Post marathon 5 on Friday

1. I haven’t run/jogged yet. I still feel tired. I am sleeping well, my body is catching up with sleep debt. Despite being jet lag, going to bed 7pm, I get to sleep 8+ hrs with minimal disruptions. I hope I catch up with the fatigue soon so I can feel back to normal. I checked my last year marathon posts and running log. It seems that recovery was fast.

2. I am heading for a hard hike next Friday with two friends from work. We are all excited and scared. It will be 3 days 2 nights hike to Rinjani. I planned it to pick up my post marathon mood. I just hope my body will be ready by then and that my friends won’t hate me for dragging them along.

3. Our helper is back from maternity leave. We are all so happy. Finally our clothes are put back to our closet. Her sister mixed up all the time and it was frustrating.

4. I am already thinking about my next race. I know, crazy. I am not sure which race yet, likely somewhere in Europe to minimize time difference, but I know I’ll have a friend to join me. Remember my colleague friend that ran with me in Jakarta few weeks ago? He’s moving to Niger in December and is excited to join me to my next marathon race, whatever it will be. How cool!

5. I’ll go back to chiropractor. I paused it to focus on Physio. Now it’s time to get those adjustment done as I still have lower back issues due to excessive curvature. Hopefully I can get it improved before next training cycle.

Weekend plan:

– pack for my hike and Lombok vacation with the family. I’ll leave first and meet them in Lombok. So will need to do double packing.

– massage

– rest!!!!

– watch “are you there god?” with the girls. I watched it in flight and really like it.

  1. I am glad you took some much-deserved time off and got lots of sleep! Recovery is important. I hope you will be fully recovered and can enjoy the hike with your friends next week.

  2. Did you get your carryon bag back? I hope so!!

I bet you will feel good in time for the hike next weekend! I usually took a week off from running after a marathon since I ran them at the end of the ‘peak’ running season in Minnesota and would then focus more on strength training.

Enjoy the time at the beach with your family, too!
