2023 Favorite books, movies, music and podcast

I am really enjoying everyone’s favorites. Here are mine

Favorite Books: I read 40 books so far this year with a diverse genre and topics. I read mostly non-fiction.

Nonfiction:

Die with zero.

Comfort crisis

Outlive

Infidels

The righteous mind

Fiction:

Homegoing

Favorite Movies: most of the movies I watched them during long flights.

Wild Tales

This is 40

Succession

Are you there God? This is Margaret

Podcasts: there are not necessarily new to me podcasts, but still the ones that I enjoy most of the episodes

Tim Ferriss show by far is my favorite podcast because he exposes me to a diverse set of topics, people, and he can make the most boring subject interesting through background research, the way he asks questions, and just to notch guests.

The Drive by Peter Attia. I used to listen to all episodes. But after reading Outlive I think I’ve got 90% of what to do in term of maintening good physical health so lately I haven’t listen to them much. When he has an episodes not health related then I listen because I also find him really good interviewer.

Revisionist History. Malcom is a genius. I’m not done with all the seasons yet, but so far he keeps blowing out my mind.

Other podcasts that I listen depending on the topic:

10 things to tell you

Run to the top

Rich and Roll

Best of both words

Best laid plan

Favorite/new to me music: BLACKPINK. my favorite songs:

  • You & Me
  • Shut Down
  • Ddu-du Ddu-du
  • Sour candy
  • Boombayah

I love to end my run with their playlist.

  1. Malcolm Gladwell is a prolific author and thinker. His last book (forget the name) was NOT very good in my opinion, but I listened to a few episodes of Revisionist History years ago and loved it; thanks for the reminder. I’m hoping to do some more podcast listening in 2024 and I think this would be a great one to add to my list.

  2. I haven’t heard of BlackPink! I listen mostly to podcasts so kind of live under a rock when it comes to new music – except Taylor swift since I buy all of her albums.

I am still thinking through my best books of 2023 list. I have so many to sort through!

  4. Homegoing was such a good book. I read it a couple of years ago, but still think about it all the time. What a treasure Yaa Gyasi is!

  5. Thank you for this list!! I, too, read mostly non-fiction but have been trying to do more fiction. Right now I am reading “Why We Sleep” by Matthew Walker- it is an easy read and enlightening.
