This week has been hectic at work and with running so I skipped midweek post.
- I had my first speed workout this Wednesday and it was TOUGH! This is my face when I finished. It was raining, and I was soaked and felt exhausted by the end. Yet, I did the workout well, 13.9 miles in total.

I was starving by the time I got home and made a big bowl of my comfort food, oatmeal.

2. I am taking 2-3 days off from running because my ankle issue came back on Thursday run. I didn’t fall or twisted my ankle, but I could feel the tendon pulling when lifting my foot. It happened once on Tuesday after 9 miles run on the treadmill. It didn’t happen during Wed hard workout. But it happened 3 times during 5 miles run on Thursday, which was supposed to be 9.5 miles and I stopped early as I didn’t want to make it worse. I have had ankle issues in the past and overall my left ankle is less stable than my right. Due to consecutive hard and long runs, it could have caused some overuse, thus tendon got sensitive. I didn’t have pain for the rest of Thursday when walking but still I am taking few days off and will see a Physio asap.
3. You can imagine my current state of mind: worried, anxious, disappointed about getting this far to my training and have this niggle (hopefully!). Overall I am confident it’s nothing major that will derail my training, but rather a short pause to regroup, and maybe start some specific exercise to help with weak ankle.
4. I have booked our Paris stay! Super excited. Regardless of my marathon, I’m determined to have a nice holidays with the family. This also helps to lift the pressure on myself how well I need to perform on the race to make the trip worth it.
5. One more week and we will be in Shanghai for 10 days. Super excited! Shanghai means childhood memory, extended family, food, old friends, and running in a cold weather! Can’t wait!
Oooh, I hope your ankle is okay! Maybe a few days rest is all it needs.

I hope the ankle heals quickly – as hard as it is to take a step back, I suspect being cautious now will pay off down the line so you don’t exacerbate the injury ❤
Best wishes with the healing! And also: PARIS! *Happy sigh*

Oh, take it easy on your ankle… you really don’t need an overuse injury right now!

I hope your ankle is doing better by now (I’m so behind on commenting). It’s good to be conservative and listen to your body when you feel pain!
Paris is going to be amazing! That is my favorite city of all the places I have been. It’s so pretty and charming with so much to do and see.

Because you’re being smart and conservative, I bet this will heal up quickly. I KNOW, it’s so hard not to run. And every day you don’t run, you worry about it. Hopefully you caught this and gave it some rest before it gets really bad.
