We had a packed and fun day. Revisiting some places we went in 2019, planned and unplanned.

I reserved Eiffel Tower stairs tickets exactly 3 weeks before today, which is when the tickets are released for online purchase. Elevator tickets are impossible to get, and we wanted to climb up. Daddy waited at home. We got to first floor before 10am, pretty quiet. Sofia and I went to the toilet. When we came out Lizzy was lost and scared as she didn’t see us. Poor thing, I hugged her for a long time. We also discussed what to do next time we get lost in a place. Kids stay in place or ask someone to call mom.

We walked around the circle for a long while before going to the second floor which was busier. It was a beautiful day to be up there.

Same spot 5 years earlier

Then we met with daddy and took the seines river boat tour, seeing Paris from a different angle.

The boat is huge and very modern, different than last time we took it.

It was lunch time when we got off the boat. Lizzy wanted chicken, so she went home with daddy while Sofia and I went looking for crepes. I randomly searched creperie nearby and found a good rating place (Les Frères Bretons). When we got there, I immediately felt that I’ve been here before. We browsed through pics of Paris in 2019 and realized that we came here! What a coincidence!!!
Sofía ordered crepe with apple and ice cream

She had raspberries sorbet 5 years ago

I ordered galette with goat cheese, honey, mushrooms, walnut and salad. It was out of this world!!! I declared it to be the best crepe to date. I wouldn’t have guessed this combo would work so well.

Few hours later, I kept browsing pics of that trip and found out that I’ve ordered the exact crepe combo 5 years ago! I had no idea!! I guess my taste preference hasn’t changed much. It brought me a lot of joy finding out these surprises.

After crepe Sofia and I walked back home, sharing a baguette sandwich as the crepe was not enough as a full meal, or we just wanted another baguette 🙂
Then the whole family departed for opera house tour

It was not in my plan at first but after seeing Daria’s recap I wanted to see it myself. It’s so beautiful. There were many girls dressing up to take pics inside.

Then we went to get ice cream at Amorino. Not only it looks so pretty, but the ice cream is also so good. We are declaring it as a must revisit place in the future.

Final stop of the day was Merci, a trendy store for clothing and house decor. It was just okay.

We got home 7pm, another Chinese takeout and went to bed 10pm. While I love baguette and crepes, I don’t think I can have them every day for too long, nor the family. I’m so glad to find chinese restaurant near by our airbnbs.
Q: what’s your familiar food you always seek while traveling?
ooh that crepe sounds like a perfect flavor combo . i would have ordered that one too 🙂

I will definitely add the Opera House to my to-see list next time I’m in Paris. I walked by it many times (our hotel was within a km or so of the Opera House), but never thought of it as being a place I wanted to visit. It’s stunning!!!
I also love that you have so much overlap from your last trip. That makes this experience even more special ❤

Oh, all these places look so beautiful! Also, I think you’re aging in reverse! If it wasn’t for your kids in the photo, I would have thought the current photo was from 5 years ago!

I love gallettes! And since they are typically made with buckwheat flour, I can usually eat them since that kind of flour doesn’t have gluten. I love the flashback photos of the girls. You somehow look like you’ve gotten younger! Ha!
I try to eat out only once/day when traveling because I get so burned out on it fast. So the meals I make are comfort foods like toast or eggs or something like that!

Your galette looks SO good! I am not a fan of crepes in the US, but in France I love them. What a wonderful day you had! And that opera house is stunning. We visited in 2022, and I was blown away. My BFF went there to see a ballet, and LOVED it.
