Weekend: all checked

We had a fantastic weekend as we did so many of things that bring us joy as a family. This is especially appreciated after having to work or worry about upcoming work trip for the last 2-3 weekends.

Groceries trip: checked. I did it alone after my Saturday morning run while girls were at swimming. They picked me up from the store when they finished. That’s 220 USD worth of groceries that I do every Saturday.

New recipes tried: checked!

Lizzy helped me with making the roasted corn with her costume of the day πŸ™‚

we had burrito bar for lunch, inspired by Jenny. Sofia hit her elbow while walking in the house, sigh., and was in pain for a while. We even went to the ER for a x-ray to make sure nothing broke. Lessons for her: we are so lucky to have access to health care and can afford it; better to be cautious than sorry. In doubt, check.

I’ve mastered air fry chicken, the whole family loves it and it’s so easy to make. In repeat. I also made a noodle dish for me and husband to use up the vegetables.

TV time: checked. I watched 3 episodes of presumed innocent. Pretty good.

Sunday run: checked. 18 miles in the book with 6 miles MP effort. Look who was working hard when I went out to start my run! Leaders of the Jakarta Marathon. It was 2 hrs and 15 min already, so I could see he was in pain. It made me so grateful to run for fun, and not for a living. Seriously, I don’t ever want to work my hobbies.

My run went FANTASTIC again, third 18 miles in a row. Each time it felt easier and I didn’t feel my above 160 HR during the MP segment, only felt sore legs when I finished. I’ve also changed my fueling. Instead of gels, which cost 3.5 USD each, I am using medjool dates and they work! Sustained energy at cheaper cost and no plastic! Win win.

Baking: checked. Girls went to swimming again, and I made them smoothie bowl when they were back. I also made a batch of banana chocolate chips muffins, and made 1 with heart shape. I forgot to add the butter, and nobody seems to miss it. πŸ˜‰

Movie with the family: checked.

the mall had a special decor station for the movie. Super cute.

my favorite emotion: embarrassment. so funny.

Couple time: checked. Husband and I had a foot massage date. I mixed up the schedule and we ended up having a coffee before the actual massage. I think first time having coffee with husband.

We got back home when the sky was so pink

Sofia’s baking: checked. Look what we found when we got back, cookies!

All elements of a fantastic weekend were checked

  • family time
  • couple time
  • good long run
  • movie
  • good food
  • baking goodies

Super charged for the week ahead.

  1. This really does sound like the PERFECT weekend. Some productive chores, time with family, relaxing activities, good food. These sorts of concentrated great-vibes-weekends are wonderful when they happen!

  2. Mmm, those cookies look delicious! It’s great that Sofia is at the age where she can make them on her own! I like to bake with my boys. They are such good helpers and follow directions well. They do taste things sometimes and I am like – really, you don’t want to taste raw flour or baking soda or baking powder, but they typically only try it once before figuring out it’s not something to sample. πŸ˜‰

It’s great that your 18 mile runs are feeling pretty “easy.” I did 6.25 miles on Saturday and I felt really tired/slow but I didn’t let it bother me since I’m not really training for anything. I am doing a 10 mile race but I am not targeting a certain time. It was such a muddy run, though. I took a different path along the creek and part of it was flooded since we have had so much rain so my runny shoes got really muddy! I was able to spray them off with a hose when I got home so they look better now but my legs had a lot of mud on them!
