The last two days in DC was HOTTTTTT! I got a heat stroke after Tuesday’s run. It took me few hours to feel normal again. Yet, I truly enjoyed all the runs through rock creek park. Seeing all sorts of animals and absolutely stunning greenish path

this is my favorite running path of all time! I was really tired the last day, but couldn’t skip my run before having to go the airport.

the journey back home was smooth, 12.5 hrs + 8.5 hrs flight were okay. I didn’t sleep much, as expected. knowing my family is waiting me at home made me smile all the way home. I got home Friday 11pm. Managed to sleep until 5am. Usually the first night of a long journey is okay, no sign of jet lag yet.
Saturday and Sunday were two full days of swimming competition for Sofia. It’s a real event, with live stream and kids from all over the country. Sofia didn’t win any medal but did well, I love seeing her gliding through the water with almost perfect form. The other kids in her group were bigger and/or older than her but she didn’t get intimidated and did her best.

When i look at her competing, she looks like a teenager. When she gets home and hugs Cookie, she still looks like a little girl. LOVE LOVE her.

I was glad to get back to my usual breakfast. YUM~ Post 17 miles run on Sunday.
It was funny that Jakarta was “cooler” than DC. Despite being jet lagged and tired, I really enjoyed my planned 16 miles run that ended up being 17. I felt strong and recovered much faster than the 20 miler the week before.

Girls love having their mama back. Lizzy is the funniest as ever. She’s enjoying having grandma here, playing cards with her, taking her roller blading, and taking pics of her funny face.

Sunday netflix time with her stuff toy, dressing up with Lizzy’s swimsuit, and snacks. Happy time.

Day 2, I slept relatively well, with interruptions but still 7 hours sleep. Day 3, I slept 4 hrs, waking up 1am and couldn’t go back to sleep. Instead of being mad, I got up and applied for Australian visa for the family, ticking off my to-do list.
I am working this week and plan to take it VERYYYYYYYYYYY easy! Then we will have our Sumba-Bali trip. Can’t wait to relax and embrace the slowness of nature focused holiday.
Heat stroke! Oh no. It’s so funny that DC was hotter than Jakarta!
It sounds great to be home, other than the jet lag, and I’m sure your girls are super happy to have you back!

I’m so glad you’re home safely; I’m sure the girls were SO glad to have you back!
I know exactly what you mean about how kids can seem so grown up in one moment/setting and then still look like little kids at other moments.

I’m surprised you felt the heat so extremely in DC! But, I know they’ve been having a big heat wave. Glad you made it home okay, and are enjoying your time with the family again! And I’m glad you have an easier week this week. That was a big trip.

I was wondering how the heat in DC would compare to the heat back home for you! I’m glad you got some great long runs in but heat exhaustion is tough to deal with. I hope you adjust back to your home time zone soon. Jet lag is so tough, especially when the time difference is so huge! I love Lizzie’s personality!

I hope the jet lag abates and you sleep well soon. Glad it’s a quiet work week. It sounds like a great trip, very productive, but always nice to be home.
