3 books read, 2 DNF
Loved:
Be ready when the luck happens. I listened to this and truly enjoyed learning about her story, her marriage with Jeff, her difficult childhood, and her relentless to embrace challenges. One thing that I really like about her relationship with Jeff is that they grow together, Jeff supports her crazy endeavors, her biggest fan, and their brief separation due to cultural norms. I also got to understand why they don’t have kids, which makes sense after reading the book. A true delight.
Meditation for mortals. I read this every night for a week before sleep and found it very soothing. It’s the same theme as his other books, four thousands weeks for instance, but told in a shorter format. I like his honest and personal experience on seeking meaning and being present.
Enjoyed but felt wanting more:
The Plot. It’s a very entertaining book but I found myself wondering what do I take from this book after reading it, and could not find answers. Maybe I am asking too much from a fiction book, the plot by itself is not enough for me to love it, I need something more from it.
DNF:
Bel Canto: I was 60% in and still don’t love it, so I decided to let it go.
Slow productivity: I was 40% in and found it boring, like what he presents makes sense and I already do them, so not feeling I am enlightened.
I am sampling few new books before deciding to read it as December is likely to be a busy month.
You might also like Save Me the Plums by Ruth Reichl, it was also a bestseller and I like her personality and her writing a lot. Slow Productivity I did the same thing, I abandoned it.

I also loved Ina’s memoir. It will make my best books of 2024 list. It was interesting to hear about the challenges in their marriage. She was brave to share that because most people think of them as the ultimate goal for a relationship! But they got to where they are because of hard work and facing problems head on instead of ignoring them.
I had several DNFs as well including Intermezzo!
