Jet lag is not progressing and that is fine. I am being fueled by excitement and lengthy to-do list before our move. My current schedule goes like this, wake up 1 or 2am, lie in bed, rest, until my mimd spins off with to-do lists. Get up at 4am, start my day as usual. Tackle things to do until 2pm, crushed with 2-3 hrs nap, see the family, continue with to-dos, work meetings from 6-9pm. Not ideal but I am fine mentally.
So what I do when I wake up early?
- communicate with the person helping me with the move/lease as daytime in Brasilia. Getting fire insurance, making rent payment, getting quote for furniture rentals, etc.
- check flight options for our departure, mostly likely taking Turkish airline as it allows to bring cat to the cabin
- booked flight for my mom to arrive the day before I go to Brasilia
- check work emails to see anything urgent that requires my response. Again because my new team work during my nights
- listen to sleep meditation, try to relax and unpin my mind. Not very successful though.
- read 50 pages of Rules of Civility
- update my journals
- write down more to-dos
- fantasizing our new life, ordinary days in Brasilia. It won’t be for few month, but it will happen!
- planning work trips/priorities when I go there in March.
Progress made:
- got our visas to Brazil. Soooo easy and fast, unlike Indonesia visa that took 4 months. Brazil visa? 2 hrs at the embassy after they were informed our visas were ready.
- visited Argentina’s embassy to apply for husband’s visa. Entered super helpful staff with pending notes, going back on Monday.
- submitted Canadian visa application for husband.
- contacted someone who can help to sell some of furnitures we won’t take
- started packing things to bring to Brazil with our flight. We will live without most of things for few months so we need to be selective and bring the essentials. This is such a good exercise to realize we can little on very little.
Wow – you’re so productive! I’m glad the paperwork and arrangements for the move have gone relatively smoothly. I’m sure that’s a big relief. I’m overwhelmed by the thought of moving anywhere within my own country, let alone moving across the world. But you clearly have the process down to a science!!!

Oof, you have so much going on but at least you’re taking advantage of “awake time” to tackle that to do list!

You must be so tired! That kind of interrupted sleep is so hard on a body! But you probably don’t feel like it’s worth it to really get back on the Indonesia time zone since you’ll be going back to Brazil next month. You’re handling it like a champ!
