5 on Friday

  1. One day break in the middle of the week is wonderful. I feel we did so much. I watched one battle after another (which is almost 3 hours) with my phone in another room far away, key to focus on the movie. I like it as it’s so different to things that I’m exposed to. My husband said he watched for 30 min and abandoned it. So it’s not for everyone. I’m certain this movie will win some awards.
  2. I finished this book and didn’t like it. I don’t remember who recommended it. It’s about affairs, the boring kind, and domestic life, long term relationships. I was expecting something different or surprising, so I kept going, until it ended and I didn’t find what I was hoping to find.
  3. We spent an hour at the pool again during sunset time. Wonderful! We rarely do things together as a family except when we travel, but pool time seems popular. Lizzy wanted to go in with me, I went in, then Sofia came and then daddy too. It’s like a communal bath time? As the water is so warm.
  4. I find audiobook so convenient when driving. I was driving around this morning and went though a long chapter of this book, the chapter on one child policy. Super sad and scary. I don’t read much about China but when I read about its stories, I find them helpful to contextualize current China. who we are is result of our history. This applies to countries and to people.
  5. This week I had mild headache and low energy most of mornings (PMS?) Running helps to feel better but today’s 50 min yoga at home felt like a balm on my soul. If the yoga is less than 30 min, I don’t feel mental peace, it feels like a workout. But when the session is more than 45 min, I can feel my mind to calm down.

  1. I haven’t read The Ten Year Affair but it is quite the buzzy book. You are the first person I know of that has read it. I sometimes struggle with books that involve infidelity so I am not sure if I will read this or not.

  2. I am such an audiobook addict. It makes my two-plus hours in the car every day so much more enjoyable.

It’s so interesting that you say the longer yoga workout works better for you! I don’t think I have tried such a long workout, but I definitely know what you mean about how short workouts feel… I don’t know, kind of rushed? Or unfinished? I should aim for more workouts that are longer. But then again, seems like lately 20-30 minutes is all I have.

  3. I haven’t heard of that book- I was laughing when you said it about “affairs- the boring kind.” I mean if I’m going to read about affairs I want them to be exciting! I am kind of intrigued about this book- I’m going to look at it.

I had a headache too this week, for several days (I blame lack of sleep.) Running definitely helped. I never do long yoga sessions like that, but now I want to try it.
