This is the end poem from my morning meditation and I love it
“Ten thousand flowers in spring, the moon in autumn,
A cool breeze in summer, snow in winter.
If your mind isn’t clouded by unnecessary things,
This is the best season of your life.”
The swimming trip reached to an end yesterday. I left Sofia with the team at 10am as I took a flight to come to Sao Paulo for a work trip. I felt bittersweet and was in a low state for the rest of the day. But as I dig deeper, I came out feeling hopeful and grateful for this mini crisis (realizing the shift) so I could pause, adjust, and move forward with a new vision. I enjoyed this trip as it gave me the chance to really pause, focus on Sofia, notice her emotions better, subtle changes, what could cause them, what made her smile, what made her nervous and her coping mechanisms. In the day to day grind of life and work, I didn’t have the time nor the mental space to pay close attention, and I am glad I did this time. I feel more in tune with her, although I only saw her few hours a day, as she’s with her team the rest of the time. And I hope to carry on this feeling, this mindset going forward.
The sunrise of this place is amazing, everyday is pink like this as I went out for a run.

Sofia gets nervous before her event

this is her group of girls for the relays. They support each other and spend hours playing together. They are really nice, caring, kind girls.

this big boy is the fastest and won lots of medals. Yet, he’s so playful when not swimming. I love it!

He made us carry the brazil color to cheer the team up.

During the last competition Sofia fell before the gun went off, so now she’s super nervous before the start.

I love seeing the start as kids just fly off

The sunset of Campo Grande is pretty cool too. Every afternoon, I walk back to my airbnb alone, absorbing the day, while Sofia goes back to the hotel with her teammate for play and dinner.

they always find something to play with. Swim trip is an extended playdate for them. š

She’s flying back with the team today, I have 4 days in Sao Paulo, and then one day at Teresina for a talk (first presentation I’ll make in portuguese).
Onward and forward!
