5 things I loved on Friday

  1. Husband driving me to physiotherapy. He dropped me and went back home. Although it’s just 15 min drive and taking a taxi would be convenient and cheap, it made me happy that he took me. I enjoy the casual chat on our car rides. This idea came from the friend I met in China. She can definitely afford to have a driver but she and her husband decided not to have one so he can drive her everyday, 40 min each way, to spend time together.
  2. Our gym is offering flavored water. They change the mix everyday and it’s always refreshing.

3. Working out while husband is killing there too. He was having his session with the trainer, I did my own thing on the side. He has lost a lot of weight since we came back from China, following a super strict diet (zero intervention from my side) and everyday gym sessions (3 times with the trainer). I applaud him for the discipline he has.

4. Getting my Korean facial. I am having acne flare up recently, not sure what causes it, seeing a dermatologist on Monday. So it was super nice to have someone carefully treat them. The facial I had lasted 2 hrs!!! So much pampering time.

5. Lunch with Sofia’s classmate’s mom. I don’t usually socialize with parents as I find lack of connection at personal level besides kids. With E, I like her from the first day I met her. Had her family over to our place for dinner, and it was nice having solo lunch with her. She used to be a career driven woman in Korea. But in Jakarta she’s just taking care of the kids as husband is assigned here for 4 years. She shared her struggles and concerns, openly. I find that when we open ourselves, the most vulnerable part, we gain friends, those kind that really care for you.

  1. My husband and I commute together when I go into the office and I find I really enjoy that time together, especially on the way home. The drive in the morning is more quiet as he is NOT a morning person so it’s usually not a time for deep conversations! So I can see why that first item made your list.

It’s nice to make a connection with a child’s parents. We have actually made a lot of good friends with families from our last daycare. We found a lot of like minded families with similar interests so we really lucked out!

  2. Very late with my comment, sorry! YES to a Korean facial. I try to get one every time the seasons change. I have to book it and pay for it so I can’t back out. I do not like spending money on myself ugh but I’m getting better at it. After seeing your post, booked a foot reflexology massage and a sauna visit. My Korean sauna in NJ is renovating so they discounted their rates thanking their clients for patience.
