Saturday small adventure & August favorites

We have a low key Saturday. We didn’t go out because most of roads are closed due to ASEAN summit. Girls did homework in the morning while I did some baking (PBJ pound cake and brownies). Then we went out for some roller blading time before going to the groceries store for popsicles. Girls get to choose one treat per week and this time they chose popsicles. It amazed me how easy they get excited and happy, which is great.

Lizzy had her piano lesson at home in the afternoon, then we went to the pool for a while before dinner, movie, and my winding down routine in preparation for my long run the next day. When we were having dinner, Sofia said she was in great mood because she had free afternoon as she managed to finish all her homework in the morning. I am glad to hear that she sees the benefits of getting the work done first.

Things I enjoyed in August:

#1. this office chair extension? I am petite so the chair is rather big for me to be able to sit all the way to support my back. With this extension, I can sit properly.

#2 This oatmeal combo with chocolate protein powder topped with strawberries jam (homemade with chia seed and lemon juice), and almond butter. So satisfying! Oh on the background, I was looking for accommodation in Lombok.

#3 My husband. I don’t know why but I am really appreciating him this month. Maybe because we were living in separate homes in China? Maybe because he has impressed me by his discipline to lose 6kg in a month? whatever it is. I take it 🙂

#4. My training. I just hit the highest mileage week ever, and I am feeling stronger than ever! It it working!!!

#5. Hot compress. I am enjoying daily hot compress before bed. It relaxes me, preparing my mind and body to sleep.

#6. Earlier bed time. I already go to bed earlier than anybody I know, around 8:30pm. Since I came back from china, 8-8:15pm is my usual time falling asleep, thanks to earlier night routine and lack of reading time. I wake up naturally around 4-4:30am, with solid 7-8 hrs of sleep. I know it makes a big difference in my running performance having solid sleeping days.

#7. Earlier back to home schedule. I used to leave office around 5pm. Now I aim to leave at 4pm. This gives me an extra hour with the girls, while they do their homework I can continue to work at home. It makes office time shorter, makes me more efficient while at the office, feel less rushed once I get home, and more time with the family.

#8. Scheduled massage on Sunday afternoons. I used to book massage when I feel like it, about 1-2 times a week, but not scheduled. Sometimes I get frustrated when I don’t get the therapist I want. Now I’ve been scheduling 2 massages (for me and husband) on Sunday afternoons way ahead of the time, so we get our favorite therapist, and we have something to look forward. During this time, girls are at chess class, so the house is quiet, usually after my long runs. Love it!

  1. Massages weekly sound AMAZING. #LifeGoal for me 🙂

I just started using protein powder regularly and have been loving it. I added it to oatmeal one day and it was so filling!

  2. Adorable pic of you and hubby!! Good for him for taking his weight loss seriously- I can see how you, being so goal oriented, would find his dedication and hard work to be attractive. 🙂 Also love the popsicle pic. 😉 Everyone loves popsicles!! haha.
