Sunday: reconnecting

It was a re-connection day. reconnecting with golf, reconnecting with a friend. I had a relatively short long run in the book so I had time to join the family for golf lesson. It was my first time getting back to range since we moved to Jakarta, so a year since I last played.

The first 20 balls made me think that how can I ever play again? Fortunately after 15 min or warm up, I felt the movement back. I am still terrible but I could hit the balls, high, and not too close. It reminded me how much focus I need to place in order to hit well. The moment I start thinking about something else. I will do bad. Golf is a sport about mental focus, find the movement that feels natural, and a lot of practice. I was pretty happy with my first practice in a long time. Not too bad was my conclusion.

Then I spent 5 hours with a friend from Manila. I invited him to my work for a one-day seminar on Monday. It was so nice to catch up with him. Both of us changed our job, both of us thought our time working together was a dream set up. I may never get that job setting again, I still feel incredible lucky to have experienced that, and formed long lasting friendship. Despite not having seen each other for a year, we both shared our deepest frustrations and challenges. I will visit him in November when I go to Manila for my eye check up, and he’s invited to stay in his new built house. Lovely.

When K left, Sofia told me that my face of lit up when talking to my friend. So true. I was so happy to connect with old friends.

I was pretty tired by the end of the day so wanted to go bed early, only to find out that Lizzy might be sick. She slept in my bed so I could monitor her. Hope she feels better soon.

  1. I remember you mentioning your friend K in the past. I’m glad you got to reconnect!

Good luck picking golf back up. I don’t know how to golf, though the boys like it a lot. Maybe one day after the boys are off to college I’ll take golf lessons when I have more spare time!

  2. It’s so wonderful to reconnect with a good friend. There is nothing like it!

I would like to learn to golf eventually but I need more time to commit to practicing. I was thinking I could try to learn when my boys start taking lessons.
