Monday & workout report (4 weeks until the race)

Monday was day 1 of after school activities, that means Sofia started her swim practice at the other campus. Lizzy wasn’t feeling well in the morning so she stayed home. She took 3 naps read books, ate little, but overall not too bad (she has low grade fever, sore throat painful when eating, tummy ache that went away, and low energy).

I was at a whole day seminar so couldn’t go back to check on her as I’d like. Daddy had to pick up Sofia for kumon and then to swimming so Lizzy stayed home with the helper alone. I got home by 4pm and was relieved to see her not too sick. I made teriyaki chicken and she ate well.

Sofia got home almost 7pm, exhausted but I could see she was happy. Quick dinner, 20 min piano, hot chocolate and bed time. I was exhausted too, not sure from what as I was not the speaker, hahaha…

4 weeks until the race. It was an easy week to get some rest before the peak week of training

Monday: 3 miles easy, 20 min yoga, 15 min hip strengthening exercise.

Tuesday: 5.85 miles light fartlek, Physio session. I got a follow up check with the doctor. He’s happy with my progress as my hip issues improved more than 50%. I told him that I get sore side abs sometimes after the run, so he’ll ask the therapist to introduce more core, abductor exercises going forward.

Wednesday: 40 min swim with the girls, 20 min sculpt yoga.

Thursday: 6 miles on the TM due to pollution, 30 min upper strength

Friday: 7.5 miles tempo on the TM. I was surprised that I got it done on TM as the pace way faster than I ever run on the TM. Now I know it’s possible.

Saturday: yoga 30 min, glute and hip strength 15 min

Sunday: 12 miles easy long run. Stretching in the evening.

Total miles: 37.4.

Strength exercise: 1 session. My legs felt tired after the 20 miles run, I was in the third week of my cycle and I could feel my energy level was low, so I didn’t push it.

Yoga: 3 times. 1 was easy yoga, 2 were more workout type of class.

Mobility/targeted strength for hip: 3

  1. It’s so nice when you hit the taper part of training! You’ve put in the hard work. Lizzie definitely looks under the weather. I am very tired tonight, too. I had a full day of meetings plus I am trying to train my new direct report. I take one of my strong meds on Mondays so the exhaustion might be from that. Or all of the above!
