Midweek check in

It is 5:36am and I am writing my post because I can’t run outdoor again. Pollution has been bad this week so I haven’t run outdoor since Sunday. I am into tapering weeks so I don’t feel bad about it. Better to be safe than doubting permanent damage I am doing to my lungs each minute that I run outside.

I recovered quickly after the Sunday 20 miler. My legs were back to normal 90% by Monday, hips got some lingering soreness but by Wed I was fully okay even with 6 miles run on treadmill on Tuesday. Hope I take advantage of the tapering weeks to fully get rid of nagging soreness.

My favorite meal of the week so far is the homemade fermented rice with poached eggs. I am so proud of myself for making it successfully which takes 72 hrs of fermentation. Husband also loves it and since he stays at home, he’s eating it up so quickly that I’ll have to make another batch soon.

My focus this week in term of parenting is to “encourage” Lizzy to do her homework more focused, faster. One day, the carrot was to make waffle together after she finishes it. We made waffles and they turned out to be great.

I am really enjoying Good Inside, the concept of trusting all human beings, us, our kids, are good inside. Don’t equal behavior with feelings. Connect, then correct.

At work, I’ve continued to read about countries’ development success, Chile in particular. Next week, we will present the results of our case studies and takeaways for Indonesia. Excited to hear the feedback.

How’s your week going so far? Anything exciting planned for the weekend? We are celebrating Sofia’s 11th birthday with her closest friends at a water park.

  1. Ug, I hate it when it is smoky or smoggy, although it does sound like it is perfect timing for your taper weeks! That is probably for the better since I know that I have a hard time taking it easy, even when I know I should, so sometimes being forced to is the only way! Good luck with your race! I think the fact that you recovered so easily and quickly from your 20 miler is a great sign.

  2. Gosh, the air quality issues sounds rough. Is that a really common thing in Jakarta or is there some event causing it? We usually have very good air quality where I am but this summer the Canadian wildfires smoke made its way down here and we had some issues for a while. Would be super frustrating to deal with frequently. Hope it gets better soon!

A water park for an 11th birthday sounds perfect!

  3. The air quality issue would be so frustrating. We are fortunate to not have air quality issues most of the time. But when we do, I realize how much I take good air quality for granted.

I LOVE Dr. Becky. She is so amazing. We took a class on emotional regulation and tantrums when Paul was around 3.5 and it was sooo helpful.
