Rushing week, birthday party, and tapering weeks

This week has been hectic. Partly due to high management visit which led extra work and meal time FaceTime with her. All good but super busy, especially since I’ll be away for 10 days so need to wrap up some work.

We also celebrated Sofia’s 11th birthday on Thursday, public holiday, from 10am to 6pm. She had a blast!

Her friends arrived 10am, and we went to the water park. I invited a friend with her daughter, 7 years old, who just relocated to Jakarta. So it was super nice that Sofia played with her friends, Lizzy played with my friend’s daughter, and I chatted with my friend. It was a lovely day, sunny and breezy.

we got back, did cake and gift, followed by a movie at our private cinema.

I ended up exhausted when the girls left, Sofia truly enjoyed the party. She looks like a teenager!!!!!!! Sad and excited for her.

I am enjoying the taper weeks so far. Some days I feel anxious that I am not running as much, other days I feel tired running little, most of the days I remind myself to trust the process. Recap last week’s workout report (2 weeks till Chicago)

Monday: rest

Tuesday: 6 miles easy on TM due to pollution and Physio.

Wednesday: 45 min strength upper and core

Thursday: speed workout run. 1.5 miles warm up, 16 sets of 200 meters at 6:18 min/mile with 200 m jog recovery, 1 mile cool down, total 6.35 miles. I was quite beat up with this run.

Friday: 8 miles easy run. I felt some stomach pain mid-run so it felt harder than it should have been.

Saturday: rest

Sunday: 12 miles easy with a friend. Really enjoyed the chatty run.

Total miles: 32.6

Strengthen/mobility: twice

I am leaving this Sunday evening. Maybe I’ll catch up here when I’m there.

  1. All the best with the travel, acclimating to the time change and your race. So exciting and you’ve been working toward this goal for a long time.

Sounds like an awesome birthday celebration ❤

  2. So excited that Chicago is so soon!! The weather is looking pretty good! Much better than Minneapolis which will be pretty hot – low of 68, high of 84, and it’s kind of humid. Well, humid for us, not for your part of the world! I hope your travel goes smoothly and you can get lots of rest in the days leading up to the race! Can’t wait to see what you think of Chicago. It’s a city I love!!
