Weekend, media consumption, next marathon?

I am slowly recovering…. yesterday 1pm I declared to the girls that I am 60% recovered. I am still sleeping well, 7:30pm to 4am most of the days, as if I’m only 20% jet lagged. Yet, I don’t wake up feeling recharged, but tired still.

I went for a super easy jog. Legs were heavy but fine. Heart felt tired but survived. Not sure if it was the weather (29C) or weakness, there was more sweat than usual. 4.5 miles felt like a mini marathon. Lower back pain came back, not sure why.

Yet, after contemplating for a week, I signed for year’s marathon!!! I know, I must be a crazy lady. It will be Paris marathon with the family, Disney is likely to happen! šŸ™‚ I am excited, girls are excited, husband is excited. I hope I can go into the race injury free and less pressure to PR. Oh… and my friend will join me. How wonderful.

I finished packing for Rinjani and Lombok for myself, girls started packing for their beach trip.

I HOPE I FEEL 100% RECOVERED BY THURSDAY!!!

Movies mostly watched during my flights:

Are you there God? It is Margaret. I loved this one and can’t wait to watch it with the girls.

The lesson. Super nicely done, love Julie.

Carmen. Okay movie but great to satisfy my Paul Mescal crush lately.

Ghosted: popcorn movie

To catch a killer: entertaining

Runner: a documentary about a Sudan’s runner. Very inspiring

You hurt my feelings: ok movie.

2 fast and furious movies: entertaining.

Fair Play. Sad romantic movie. Not sure why rotten tomatoes gives it high rating. I would have rated it below 50%

Books:

  • The Brooklyn Tree: I read 70% of it in Chicago to realize that I’ve read it before. I don’t like it as much as I feel like the plot is depressing and similar to other books I’ve read, and too long.
  • Build the life you want by Arthur Brooks and Oprah. Love it. It is as good as the podcasts I’ve listened to.
  • Rich and Pretty. Fast read book to get back to reading.
  • 14 talks to have before 14. One of the best parenting books I’ve read about teenagers. Love it.
  • Anxious People. Super interesting plot, good sense of humor, and smart.
  • Good Inside. I like it but don’t love it. I think it’s better fit for younger kids.

  1. Paris! How exciting! That is my favorite city in the world. It will be fun to make it a family trip versus going by yourself. And maybe that will take some of the pressure off you because the trip won’t be just about the marathon. Hopefully you can do the marathon fairly early on so you can enjoy Paris and not feel so restricted about what you can/see due to staying off your feet pre-race.

  2. So behind on commenting but have been reading in my email. Circling back to say YAY about Paris!! That will be so fun. I can’t wait to go there with my boys. We were supposed to do that in 2020, and cancelled. Then we were planning it for next summer 2024, but realized the Olympics are going to be held there next summer. So I heard that even June and July (before the Olympics) is going to be a total crazy mess with construction and prep going on, massively increased prices, huge crowds, etc. Seemed best to just wait and go at a time when Olympics are not coming to town. Hoping that maybe in the next couple years we will make it there! I did so much planning and had everything booked for 2020 and was so sad to have to cancel it all…. Now I don’t even know what I did with all my notes and would probably have to start all over! ha.
