November books & Friday fun

November was the month that I got back into reading, seriously, fascinating, addicted, non-stop. The key was to find books that really got to me, and free blocks of time.

After the prophet. Fanatic introduction to islam. I love the writing style, story telling of historical events. I got to understand some of things I see here in a daily basis, where they came from. Yet, I’m more puzzled that educated and informed people still practice some of those.

Agnostic. From the same author who studies and writes about different religions, thus this is an informed understanding of what is being agnostic.

The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine (audiobook). It is informative but I am afraid a bit biased view. I didn’t like it as much in audiobook format, good to know so I won’t do more audiobooks.

Infidel. This is the book that got me interested into islam. It blowed my mind her story. Many times I couldn’t believe that those women live in the same planet as me. She’s such a brave woman.

The woman in me. Eye opening about her story. Never judge someone by what you see is my takeaway. Super fast read.

The Psychology of Money. A different kind of personal finance book, it gives a framework of how to think about money. I relate to his points a lot.

Tom Lake. The only fiction and I don’t get its hype. It’s pleasant read but way different than I expected.

Friday evening golf was fun. It was 50/50 chance of rain so we switched to indoor golf simulation. 4 players, 9 holes, 150 min fun play. I really enjoyed it, planning to take the girls back this weekend.

and look how cute are the fries.

What was the best book you read in 2023?

  1. You read some great books! I want to read the Britney memoir at some point. I’ve heard the audio book read by Michelle Williams is amazing. I think being a child star is an awful life for most! Especially if your family takes advantage of you…

My best book of 2023 was Hello Beautiful! I usually don’t re-read books but I would re-read that one. It was hit or miss with people I know though. That was the case with Tom Lake. I liked it but didn’t LOVE it.

  2. Wow, you read some serious books! As you know, I have Agnostic on my Christmas wish list.
I know a lot of people loved Tom Lake, but I just don’t think I would love it.
