Paris day 8: Versailles and playground again

It was our last day in Paris before transferring to Disney area. I found last minute ticket to Versailles for 9am so we left early. Girls “complained” being woken up on holidays . Hehe

The trip to Versailles was easy as we were at walking distance to RER station. We waited not so long before entering the palace

It was busy but too crowded. The girls were impressed by the amount of gold and luxury in the palace. I’ve been here in 2000 and remember what I felt at the time, too much, too busy, not a peaceful place I’d like to live

Next stop was a cigar shop near opera as daddy wanted to get some for his friend. After that, daddy went back home while girls and I went to get our last crepe of this trip

Lizzy’s first crepe, she said not a big fan. I had one with zucchini tomato goat cheese and walnuts. It was good but not as good as my favorite one

Then we spent a long time at Citypharma to get French skincare. I think I have enough supply for the next two years. It’s cheaper than US for sure. I’ll report back if I find anything particularly good.

We walked by the seine river for the last time before some playtime at Luxembourg garden, what a beautiful park.

We got back 5pm, earlier than usual, perfect to plan for our Disney trip. I did almost zero research as I believe it’s pretty straightforward and we have 2.5 days there to do all we want to do and see.

That concluded our 9 days stay in Paris, probably adding it to my favorite cities in the world list. Others include buenos Aires and Shanghai.

  1. I am glad you had a great last day in Paris! It is my favorite city in the world. It’s just so charming and total feast of the senses but I didn’t find it overwhelming and the metro system is amazing. It’s hard to imagine living another city more! I haven’t been there for over 10 years but don’t see myself getting back there anytime soon… but I will get back there some day. I would love to rent an apartment for 6-8 weeks when we are retired so we can really see the region and experience it like a local. I met several couples that did that on my last couple of trips to Paris.

looking forward to your Disney report!!

  2. I wanted to see more pics of Versailles!! I have never been there and it sounds so cool. Like you said, the impression I get is that it is very “over the top” and not exactly the style I’d want in my house. LOL. But it would be cool to see. That’s great that you could fit it in. Were the tickets timed? You had to be there at a certain time? Or could you just show up whenever?
