DITL 4/29: typical Monday

4:18am: woke up and morning routine

5:25am: head out for a run as I won’t be able to run tomorrow due to early flight. I saw these two cats, stopped to take a pic of the white/black cat as hubby loves this kind. I think cats are the only things I stop while running

6:44am: back home. Girls finished breakfast, hubby was heating up leftovers for their lunch. I did their hairs and girls headed out by 7am.

7am: stretch and mobility for 20 min while listening to Stephen’s latest episode. He’s my latest favorite running related YouTube.

7:50am: breakfast (oatmeal) after shower and get ready.

8:20am: hubby drives me to work. It has been quite hot lately and I don’t want to walk after running already outside, plus it’s a good 10-15 min chat with hubby.

8:35am: got to office, planned for the day, did scanning of Lizzy’s year book contribution’s paper, and medical reimbursements receipts to submit to the health insurance.

9-12pm: work, almost none stop. Super focused. Oh.. I had some porridge as snack around 10.30am.

12pm: blog about Sunday, few personal emails to send.

12:30pm: lunch (leftover bean soup + corn)

1-2pm: work

2pm: leaving for a meeting outside the office.

2:30-4pm: meeting

4:30pm: got back to office, changed heels to walking shoes, and walked back home. This is the path, super green and nice, rare in Jakarta.

5:08pm: got home. changed. chatted with Lizzy who got back from swimming practice. Sofia and hubby were at swimming practice and won’t be back later. I worked a bit more while Lizzy did her Kumon, both munching on snacks (Lizzy had mango ice cream, I had a toast with cream cheese).

6pm: Dinner with Lizzy. After dinner, I quickly packed for tomorrow’s day trip.

6:30pm: skincare, update time tracker, planner, draft this blog post.

7pm: Sofia got back, tired, I sit with her while she had dinner.

7:30pm: Sofia played piano, I read.

8pm: moved to bed, continued to read, girls came to hug me for good night.

Sofia asked me how was the day in bed, I said: it was busy, as a usual Monday, not my favorite day of the week but was a good Monday considering that most Mondays are not as great.

How was your Monday? What’s your least favorite day of the week?

  1. I usually don’t mind Mondays overall, especially after a busy weekend sometimes there is something soothing about returning to the structure and schedules of Monday. My Monday this week wasn’t so good as I’m sick! I didn’t work even though I work from home because I just really don’t feel good at all. It’s hard because I sometimes feel like since I WFH we might be expected to just work when sick, since obviously we aren’t going to contaminate anyone or anything… ha. But I don’t think I should have to drag myself through work tasks while feeling terrible, either. So I told my boss I needed the day off as a sick day to just rest.

  2. I really like the “fresh start” of Mondays plus it’s usually a group run day which is fun :) I would love to swap my clinical monday for a work from home Monday as i kind of want that energy for my own stuff. Might try to do that next year!

  3. Sounds like a good day! I know- Mondays can be hard. My least favorite day of the week is Thursday, because I have Wednesdays off (but work Saturdays.)

Those cats are cute! I see the other one is an orange tabby (the one just poking his head in the photo.) I love orange tabbies.

  4. Monday feels like so long ago and it’s only Wednesday! I had a really busy day in the office. I usually don’t go in on Mondays but I switched up my office days this week so I could be in the same day as another woman in my office that I”m traveling to Napa with. She’s on the panel that I’m moderating so I wanted the option to talk to her in person, even though we will have the 2 hour drive to Napa plus a prep call that I had scheduled for that day.

I actually really like Mondays. Weekends can feel really long in this stage of parenting, especially when the weather isn’t great. So Phil and I are both kind of team “TGIM” because we like our jobs and the kids have great schools/daycares.
