5 on Friday: ending the week in high note

  1. Wrapping up Sofia’s Mommy-work-camp. It was Sofia’s last day in my office. she did her craft project, I worked calmly and productively. I almost finished my task for the day (3 items) before lunch. Sofia craved udon noodles so we went to a Japanese restaurant. Btw, we have a big shopping mall across the office so it takes 5 min walk to get there.

Her udon noodle with chicken meatball and chicken and veggies looks really comforting

I ordered a similar dish with rice on the side, that came with miso soup and steam egg, super good too.

And she had Aduki bean with mochi, a combo she loves

2:20pm I took her to Kumon to meet with Lizzy and daddy. On the way there, she told me how much she enjoyed spending time in my office this week, way better than the school camp. I really really enjoyed it too. Especially our lunches and walks. What a bonding experience, it turned out way better than I thought. To be repeated.

2. Acid reflect seems subsided. I’m not sure if it’s because I am calmer the last two days as I feel I’m getting better prepared, my acid reflex gradually improved since Thursday. I still went to see the GI doctor in the evening, to have the meds prepared for next flare up. Hopefully I learn to manage my stress better next time and avoid this stomach pain, which not only is painful, it is debilitating. I’m reading the 5 resets, hoping to learn new strategies to manage the inevitable stress in life.

3. Surprise meet up in Perth. I reached out to a mentee who’s studying in Melbourne, checking how he’s doing. I told him we are going to Perth in October for a race and family vacation. He immediately signed up to the race to meet us. I love this spontaneous and instant response from him. Isn’t it the best feeling when your friend takes up your offer without hesitation?

4. My plan to the US is firming up. I am getting excited as I’ll see many friends and a side trip to Tampa to stay with my academic mentor for 2 days. YAY!

5. Family fun plan scheduled for Sunday. I bought the tickets to watch inside out for Sunday and booked couple foot massage right after. It’s going to be a great weekend!

  1. Your lunches look so good! I am glad you had such a great week together. Your trip to the US sounds great! We will just miss each other by a couple of weeks as I fly to DC on Tuesday. It’s a typical short trip for me – just 2 nights/3 days – and I am staying in Arlington so won’t get to run along the mall which is a bummer but oh well. My sister is moving to the Quantico area this week for her husband’s military job so I will be out that way more often I think!!

  2. Glad you had such a fun week with Sofia! I still remember going to my mom and dad’s works when I was a kid. Definitely sticks out in my memory, so I am sure this will for her, too.

Happy to hear your acid reflux is doing better, also!
