Sunday pre-LR rituals and day dreaming

Sunday starts with pre-LR ritual: a snack (small bowl of oatmeal that I made for husband); fill the camel bag with 1.5 liter of water with 2/3 packet of LMNT; pack gels and another pack of LMNT because I always refill my camel 2/3 of the way; carry sunscreen stick (use it maybe 50% of the time); sunglass. Make sure the family has breakfast ready to reheat. Then mentally prepare and look forward for a long enjoyable run.

Original plan was 6 miles easy, 4 miles at MP, 6 miles easy. But my stomach had other plans.

I am actually surprised that my acid reflex didn’t come during this period of high stress as it usually happens. But since Saturday after few miles my stomach would feel some pain, the usual acid reflex pain. It would go away after I settle. Well, today it happened again after 5 miles so I abandoned the idea of doing the workout, changed the plan to run until the pain gets stronger. Ideally I would like to do 12-14 miles to make it a true LR. If it does not subside I’ll end the run no matter how short. Once the pressure is off, I just kept running one mile at the time, check how stomach feels, until I finished 16 miles. What a lovely surprise. It was super enjoyable. I listened to Dua Lipa, determined to chase her sometime soon.

As I walked back home I called mom.

I planned the week ahead, checking kids activities calendar, and my weekly pages to add few to do list.

Then girls and I went to a mall to get some presents for their secret Santa gift exchange.

Lunch was at Sofia’s new favorite restaurant: pepper lunch. Hot pan with sizzling rice and meat, with a very peppery sauce.

Daddy didn’t come as he wanted to take a morning nap. And then sent me pic of his lunch, so healthy!!! potato, bitter melon, mushroom, and eggs.

We got home almost 2pm. I had leftover kimchi fried rice and Kabocha, and went to take a nap. It was gloomy, dark, rain, so cozy to be in bed. My nap is usually 30 min.

Then I had a lovely call with my BFF, followed by dinner.

Listen during my run: rest of Peter’s podcast, best of Tylor swift playlist; Dua Lipa Future Nostalgia, and Jennie radio.

Read: Bel Canto. I think I’ll abandone it. I’m 60% into it but still can’t get the plot right or the story she tries to tell. Should I push through? Will it get better? I read two new books sample, will get them I think.

Places I am dreaming to visit:

  • Manila before we leave Asia
  • By beloved Buenos Aires
  • Tierra del fuego for a ski trip with the family. That is where I went for my first ski trip with my BFF.
  • Calafate for the glaciers
  • Galapagos
  • Machupichu
  • Rio de Janeiro
  • Bariloche
  • Costa rica

Sooo many places I want to take the family too in Latin America. A totally new continent for us to explore.

  1. I’m glad your stomach held up well enough for you to run 16 miles but am sorry to hear you are struggling with acid reflux. That is rough.

I read Bel Canto 10-15 years ago and I think I gave it 2 stars! I would abandon it if it’s not working for you. I just abandoned Intermezzo by Sally Rooney this afternoon. It just wasn’t working for me, especially the writing style.

  2. Well done on your long run! I don’t know how you could get rid of the acid reflux – maybe it has something to do with what your eating the evening before?

    What are you training for?

  3. Great job on the run- you completed the distance you set out to do. It’s a lesson to be learned- if you don’t feel well, don’t give up. Adjust your expectations and just keep going, knowing that 9 times out of 10 you’ll feel better in a while. Glad the run ended so well! And- I hope your stomach feels better when you’re off the antibiotics. Your nap sounds AMAZING.

  4. I hope your tummy improves, antibiotics can be ROUGH. I hope that’s the issue and you can solve it.

I loved Bel Canto, but honestly, if it’s not your thing, let it go. There are too many good books out there!

  5. Ugh, I am sorry you’re dealing with acid reflux… but luckily it didn’t prevent you from finishing your long run.

    That lunch looks delicious!
