Thankful Thursday without the turkey

It was a busy work day here while girls went to school before another non-school day on Friday. Few highlights:

  • My current position is out and people who are not close friends to me can’t hold their gossip nature and reached out to me asking WHY? where am I going? It makes me laugh because I think being curious about someone else even if it is inconsequent to them is human nature.
  • As I was updating girls calendar for next week, I realized that my flight to China is Friday evening (Saturday midnight), not Saturday evening as I thought. Well… glad to caught that or I would have missed my flight.
  • Given my 24 hrs earlier departure, I went to get bagels for Lizzy’s breakfast (as she detests sourdough bread), and made a big batch of oatmeal for husband. I know they can get things themselves, but I am always worried they won’t feed themselves properly when I am gone.
  • I reached out to a childhood friend in Shanghai to meet up and got no answer. Another long time friend (4 decades!!!) is drifting away, which is sad but understandably given how different our life circumstances are now.
  • Yesterday I talked about nostalgia about Buenos Aires. Today I realized that listening to Filipino English also brings me a sense of familiarity and comfort. It makes me smile inside when I hear Ray talks. I’ll keep him close, personally and professionally, as long as I can.
  • The school in Brasilia tentatively said they would have a spot for Lizzy if we move to March. That’s great news.

I am so thankful this year, what a great 2025 and more adventures to come! 😀

  1. I’m excited for your move, you are going to have so much to do between now and then, but you and your family are a great team, and you have time.

  2. That is great that Lizzie has a spot! Hope you confirm Sofia does as well soon! Things are coming together! And yes, people love to gossip and know who is going where! I am only on LinkedIn to see where people are going to when they leave my company and to see when people get promoted.
