Performances: onward and forward

We had a low/high energy weekend. It started with this special gift from my assistant, christmas shaped local delicacy made with rice. So kind and sweet of her, the family enjoyed it a lot.

Saturday I woke up not feeling well, feeling warm, swollen lymphatic node, afraid that I was getting sick, either from my tooth infection or from Sofia who was sick this week. I scheduled a massage before going to Lizzy’s talent show at school. She did great. No mistakes, very calm, and not rushed. She was very proud of herself.

I went to bed before 7pm that night, hoping the sleep will do the magic. And it did! I woke up on Sunday feeling 100% better, even enjoyed my chill miles run. Sunday, Lizzy also performed at a Christmas concert organized by her piano teacher. Again, calm, confident, very mature. πŸ™‚

I also had to spend sometime preparing for my talk on Monday, while the girls played and watched netflix.

Monday morning, girls realized that they won’t see me when they come back from school as I will be going to airport before they come back. Fortunately, Lizzy who usually cries a lot when I leave, was excited for her PJ party at school so it was less dramatic departure.

I delivered my swan song (per my colleague) as it was my last public appearance in Indonesia, presenting my last two years of work. It went well and I am glad to close this chapter of my professional career at this high note. Most important of all, I did with a group of motivated, collaborative, and fun team. Despite high pressure, we didn’t stress and had the liberty to shape our narrative. 10 out of 10! So happy I am done. Now ONWARD and FORWARD to the next adventure. But before that, some holidays for the family.

I am writing this at the airport on my way to Shanghai for few days. Then next week we will embark our New Zealand trip! πŸ˜†

  1. I loved getting to see you in your work/presentation context!

Onward and upward indeed. You are great at seeking out adventures. Can’t wait to read all about your trip to New Zealand. That’s definitely on my “bucket list” of places I want to visit someday.

  2. I am glad your “swan song” went well! It sounded more fun than stressful and is a nice way to cap off your time in Indonesia! I’m excited to hear about your time in NZ. That is the most beautiful place I have been in my life. I spent a week on the south island in 2002 during fall break when I was studying abroad in Australia. A week was not nearly enough time but was all the time I had to take away. I’d love to go back for a month some day!
