Early birthday celebration and pre departure stress

We are leaving today for New Zealand. My actual birthday is tomorrow, on Christmas, so the family suggested to give me the gift and the cake before we leave. I got the best presents ever!!!

#1. Portrait of me and daddy made by Sofia. Look at the details, my necklace pendant.

# 2. portrait of me and Sofia, made by Sofia

#3. Vegan chocolate cake made by Sofia all by herself , frosting included

These are such thoughtful presents! She knows I’m difficult to buy present because if I want something, I just get it. She was worried about what to get me for a while and decided to surprise me with things she makes. These are perfect! I love them so much.

I also got few things for Lizzy and a skincare set from husband, and a lovely written card.

Celebrating with the family is the best part, especially this year when we are ending it in high note, all dreams came true.

This morning I had a major scare. As I was finishing packing, I couldn’t find the international driving permit, a crucial document for our NZ trip. I turned the house upside down to say the least, called Perth airport where we last used, and asked a friend at 6am to check if I can get a replacement today. 2 hrs later, I found it. Where? With the passports already. Gosh! What a way to start the day.

Then the area where I got tooth out felt discomfort. given that I had low grade fever, I was worried that I got an infection. The more I thought about it the more scare I got so I decided to go to the dentist to check again. She was surprised that my dentist in China didn’t prescribe me with antibiotics. So I got them and started taking it right away, better to be cautious than sorry.

Finally finished all the packing, probably over packing this time as we will be away for two weeks and on the road.

Now all checked in and ready to depart

  1. Happy early birthday! Those presents from Sofia are so thoughtful! What a sweet girl! I am glad you could see a dentist and get some ABX. Now you won’t have to worry about getting sick in NZ. Have the best time! I spent a week on the South Island in 2002 when I was studying abroad in Australia and it was the beautiful place I have ever seen!!

  2. Happy birthday! Have a great time in NZ! I love those drawings; they are very fun and it looks just like you! I am pretty sure that I drove in NZ without an international driving permit; is that a rule that has changed recently? I also got a ticket for speeding in NZ and it only cost me $40 NZD to pay it!

That does some like some pre-trip stress! I hope everything went smoothly and you’re enjoying your vacation right now.
