4 days in California Disney

We are back home last night, after some stressful moment during layover, almost missing our connecting flight. We had to run to the boarding gate as it was about to close (I was extra stress as I haven’t run in two weeks due to knee pain) and was surprised that we had 15 min to spare before the gate closed. Anyway, we got home well, although our luggage didn’t arrive (not surprised), and had a great night of sleep after not sleeping during the overnight flight from LAX to MIA.

We spent 4 full days, 2 days in both parks, from 8 to 5pm every day. We didn’t have light lane, we didn’t really strategically plan what to do to maximize our days. We are the relaxed kind of Disney goers that go with the flow, do whatever ride was in front of us that is not more than 30 min wait time. We didn’t dress up as most of the other people we saw. Yet, I absolutely loved it! Once more, I want to say ” I AM IN MY DISNEY ERA”. Mostly or exclusively because I love the vibe of Disney parks, and the MAGIC of course. Everyone is in festivity mode, relaxed, happy, and the music, the characters walking around, it’s just pure bliss for 4 days! I asked the girls until when they’ll like to Disneys? or do I have to wait until I have grandkids to keep going there?! hehe…

we did most of the rides and attended the shows. Some we did more than once. Lizzy did one ride in Adventure park 8 times!!!

I got heat stroke on first and last day. It was not too warm but the sun heating my head got me so I bought a hat the first day.

the parks were busy but we didn’t have to wait too long for any ride, and most of the wait time was okay. We had fun people watching and listening to their conversations. Sofia said she doesn’t mind waiting as she can listen to other people’s conversations. haha

Some iconic rides in all Disneys were similar but different at the same time.

we like both parks, Disneyland is more Disney vibe while Adventure park is more fun?! If I had to choose one, I like Disneyland more.

the decor and the vibe creation was outstanding. it’s sooooo nice to walk around and just look and appreciate the magic they’ve built. oh… funny fact. since we stayed in hotel and we didn’t pack much clothes, at certain points, we were exchanging clothes hahahah…. in this pic, I wore Sofia’s short.

Lizzy overcame her shyness and was freely asking people directions in this trip

Sofia’s favorite activity was character drawing at animation academy. She did 5 or 6 times.

I must said, I was reluctant at first to join them but was glad I joined as I found a foreign place in my brain that this drawing class took me. Maybe I should start taking drawing lessons?

the magical show that transported my mind to a paradise

we saw many parades and this one “happy together” was my favorite

space mountain was fun, girls did 3 times, I joined one too. I was glad that I did most of the rides with the girls this time. I thought: I was there anyway, if I don’t ride with them, then we miss a shared experience. I am so glad to did.

my favorite ride of all time (across all Disneys) was: Star War Resistance. We entered to this ship for part 1, when it opened, we were in a different place. We all still struggle to figure out what happened? how did they do it?

part 2. as we walked through the place with robots around us, it felt we were IN THE MOVIE! So cool

and the ending!? Marvelous! If not because the wait times got longer, we would have done it again. Absolutely stunning work there!

we did some lame rides too, but we were in such good spirit that we didn’t mind

It was easy to travel with the girls this time as Sofia was in charge of navigation and we took turns to carry the bag. It felt truly like a girls’ trip.

there, Lizzy in action to her next ride

We got some souvenirs too, Sofia got a shirt and a pin

Lizzy got her latest obsession

we packed lunch everyday to save time and avoid crappy food. On our last day, we feed the ducks too with leftovers, and it was surprisingly fun to sit in the center of the park, people watching and feeding ducks

Panera was just outside of our hotel so we had dinner there every day.

My biggest concern during this trip was lack of alone quiet time as we were in a hotel room every day. But it turned out to be fine. When we get back to the hotel, we were all quite exhausted. They’d do Kumon, I’d watch some Netflix and it’s almost bed time.

We had one treat per day and it has been ice creams and popcorns. We sit on the floor and continued people watching. oh…. I absolutely loved the experience of people watching with the girls. We would comment on people and laugh. so much better than staring at phones and it’s a shared experience.

That concludes this trip recap and summer travels. It flew by so fast! This trip felt long in a good one because we did a lot of different things while relaxing. The concert was epic, Disney was magical, we had plenty of chill out time, small moments of joy and laugh, good spirits, team work, and a lot of LAUGH! I love my girls sooooo much and they are truly my best travel buddies.

  1. This sounds like an absolutely incredible trip! I’m so glad you were able to spend so much time with the girls and it sounds like everyone had a wonderful time.

It’s so nice to travel with kiddos when they’re older and more independent and can remember and appreciate this family time together.

I went to Disney for the first time this year and enjoyed it more than I expected to. Some of that was because my kids were just SO EXCITED to be there (it was a complete and total surprise; we pulled up to the train station stop before they figured it out).

  2. Yikes about the plane! You had some rough travel in there!

Disney is SO much fun. We took the boys to Disneyland when they were young, and it was too young IMO. We later took them to Disney World when they were 11 and 12 and it was one of the best trips we ever did as a family. We had so much fun! Your trip looks absolutely phenomenal. Disney really is a magical place!

  3. I’ve only been to Disneyland 3 times – In California, Disneyland does ‘grad night’, and the park shuts down to the public and is open to graduating high school seniors. It’s open all night. It was SO FUN, everyone there was 18 and graduating, no little kids, no parents.

The other 2 times I was with a young kid. First, my husband’s niece, who was almost 6 at the time, and it was a bit too much for her. Also we were exhausted as we had driven overnight to get there (not her, just my husband and I). Second time was years later, with our daughter, who was also almost 6. It was fun, but she couldn’t go on a lot of the rides. I think your daughters are the PERFECT age, which makes it a lot more fun.

I’m so glad you had such a wonderful time. ❤

  4. I’m glad you had such a fun time and that the girls haven’t aged out of Disney yet! Neither Phil or I feel strongly about taking the boys to Disney but maybe I will change my mind. Neither kid has asked to go to Disney, though, so it doesn’t seem top of mind for them yet. I would rather go when they are a bit older and heartier so we can stay for longer days and not have tantrums. Will is definitely too young at 4 to handle it!

  5. I love how embraced your Disney adventure! I like how it was less about the perfect itinerary and more about shared wonder and spontaneous moments.
I am not surprised that Sofia enjoyed the character drawing most – it suits her personality perfectly. And that photo of Lizzy running to the next ride – it made me smile. 😃

  6. This is so nice!!! I’m glad you had so much fun. I love the descriptions of people watching and listening in on people’s conversations- yes, that is fun! It sounds like a real bonding experience with the girls.

I’ve been to Disneyworld but not Disneyland. Now I probably have to wait until I have grandkids to go again!
