By the hour

3:08: I woke up, 2 min before alarm goes off. I put in everything left on the counter. Wait until 3:20am to wake Lizzy up.

4am: we arrive the airport with the group. On our way back home.

Lizzy was sleepy but still very happy and satisfied by the experience.

5am: we took off. I started playing Killing Eve, last season. So good.

6am: Season 4 episode 6. This is a crazy show. I love the dialogue, succinct, smart.

7:30am: we landed. Daddy is waiting outside.

8:30am: we arrived home. Sofia was about to start her piano lesson.

9am: I changed to go out for a run. I really needed a run after being not active for 2 days. Fortunately it was still cool and not sunny yet.

10:40am: I finished 9.7 miles. Not planned. Just went with how I felt. I ran 3 miles on the dirt trail. Trying it out to see if it’s indeed less impact to the knee.

11:30am: showered and got a call from my BFF. We talked until girls begged me to make lunch.

12:30pm: girls eating lunch. Sofia mashed potatoes with gravy. Lizzy noodles with tomato and eggs. Me: broccoli with tofu made by husband, and cucumber salad.

1pm: made crepes for Sofia’s breakfast.

1:30pm: nap time!

3pm: made myself a capuchino. Then finished the last episodes of Killing Eve while icing my knees (15 min per my Physio recommendation).

5pm: feeling hungry again. Made early dinner and made bulgori for Sofia’s lunch tomorrow.

6pm: went out for a walk with Sofia. I know she misses chatting in a casual way since I was away. She is very looking forward to the summer camp, the only downside is that it’s 8 months away. She said yesterday she had no activity other than homework, and was “depressed”. I would have described it as bored?! Good that she’s proactive in planning next weekend with her friends who feel the same.

7pm: writing this post with a small bowl of oatmeal. I can’t go a day without oatmeal. Sofia is watching something while having fruit bowl for dinner. Lizzy and daddy are watching Frankenstein movie.

I plan to go to bed now and read something soothing.

This was a great rest and recovery Sunday after two busy weeks of travel. Home feels better than ever.

  1. So nice to be home! Thinking of your daughter missing having something to look forward to…anticipation is such a wonderful feeling, right? When it’s for something good, of course. Anticipatory grief is horrible, when someone you love is sick or something like that, a job, whatever. I like that she is figuring it out, though, and finding other things to plan and look forward to.

  2. Yikes- that was an early wakeup! Glad you got a nap in.

You know what- that is a beautiful photo of Lizzy. Not only is she so, so pretty- but she’s growing up! She doesn’t look like a little kid anymore.
