Sunset pool time

Another day mostly at home and it was wonderful in many ways.

I had a great easy run in the jardim Botanico, imitating forest bath, so peaceful. This is my new “tradition”. During the week run outside and on weekends when the jardim Botanico is open, run inside, mixing between pedestrian walking path and dirt path for mountain bike.

I spent the morning chatting with my mom, baked the two loafs of sourdough: see the difference between making an incision and not, curry chicken for girls school lunch, and sourdough pizza. Pizza is Lizzy’s favorite food.

Sofia went to a birthday party while the rest of us went to decathlon to get few things, and a quick groceries run. when we came back, Lizzy played with Bubble, while I watched another episode of the Brazilian series

around 4pm, Lizzy was a bit bored, I was tired with tuning in Portuguese, the sun was mild, so I suggested we go to the pool. I am ashamed to say I never go to the pool, because I am always cold in the water. And you know what happened? the water was as hot as a bathtub! I was in heaven!

Why I never tried?! I tried in the mornings which is usually cold, but after day of heat, the water is soooo warm. I was floating, listening to music, Lizzy playing around. When Sofia came back, all 4 of us stayed in the pool until sunset. What a happy surprise! I should do this more often, so relaxing. Now I understand why Kae loves hot pool.

Recap of last week’s workout:

Monday: 4.4 miles easy run as I did my LR on Sunday. I went to the gym for 45 min full body strength session. The key is not over think about it and leave with the family when girls go to school.

Tuesday: 6 miles easy. Then I went to the office gym and found out there were in person yoga session at 8am so I joined. It was so nice. I enjoy yoga but don’t feel like going for the class unless it’s super convenient. Now that office offers class every Tuesday morning, I will definitely make it part of the routine.

Wednesday: rest which was so well timed. Start of luteal phase is always dramatic, mild headache sudden energy drop, and sleepy.

Thursday: 6.5 miles with 5 sets of 1km interval, quite challenging but I hit the pace. 45 min gym session, less energetic but I got it done.

Friday: 20 min restorative yoga.

Saturday: 11.11 miles run, easy flow in the forest. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Massage in the afternoon felt really nice.

Sunday: 7 miles easy run. Soaking in the pool felt like part of the recovery.

  1. So nice that you can get your running done and even have time for the gym besides work! That’s very valuable, but also takes a lot of discipline.
It was always such a squeeze for me when I worked, my job consumed a lot of time. We started at 7am and got out at 7pm. I barely managed to get in a run over lunch time.

  2. For all my complaining about the heat in FLorida, I HATE being in a cold pool! I actually get cold really easily. I would love floating in a warm pool- glad you discovered that.
