Takeout for dinner

I am really happy that tomorrow is public holiday. A break from work is much welcomed. To start the mini long weekend, I ordered empanadas for dinner. we don’t always order take out for dinner so this feels special.

What are our usual takeout options?

  • Sushi
  • Pizza although increasingly less so as we find restaurant pizza too greasy
  • Kebab type of grilled chicken or meat
  • Empanada is a new addition that is pretty good as it’s easy to heat in the oven

When it’s for me, I usually order custom made salad.

What are your go to take out?

  1. My favorite takeout is Chipotle (not sure if you’ve had Chipotle?) I get a bowl with rice, tofu, grilled vegetables, salsa, guac and lettuce. YUM! My daughter doesn’t like Chipotle, SIGH, so she likes sushi. My husband likes pizza. We can’t even agree on a takeout option, ha ha, so even that dinner isn’t easy.

  2. My boys (ages 10 and 8) love Chipotle too! They had it a few times, and we usually buy it when we travel (which is about 2-4 times per year. We take two week-long trips and couple of weekend getaway throughout the year). Other than that, we don’t do any take-outs. My husband grills on the weekend, so I always have some frozen grilled chicken or hamburgers on hand. And I am a big fan of bone broth, so I always have some frozen chicken/beef broth that can be turned into a ramen soup very quickly. If I feel festive, I can bake a home-made thin-crust pizza on a tortilla in less than 20 min.

I am glad you are enjoying empanadas. I had a friend from Argentina, and she was making the best empanadas for every get-together! I definitely miss those a lot. She now moved out of state, and it will be a long time before I try her creations again.
