Fun active weekend

We had another fantastic weekend, filled with sweat, smile, and racing. Girls had the last swim meet up for the year in Brasilia which was convenient and the same location as they had their first meet up in Brazil. I still recall the first meet up experience as being not great, especially for Sofia. She realized she was facing more competition that in Asia, where she was among the fastest girls. In Brazil, the swimming culture among kids is so much stronger, the physical built of them also stronger, so in her first competition, she didn’t do well and that affected her confidence.

Well… this is the weekend that she picked it up!!! So many things I love about this experience. First, she had a “friend” who speaks english and super kind, following her before and after her races, reminding her, be there with her. That was huge for Sofia, to not feel alone.

She tried the new racing suit, it looks soooooo good on her, would you agree?! She looks pro with it. And best of all, she thinks the suit really makes a difference, especially for turns and dive ins.

This time, she got 3 medals out of 6 races (50 fly, 100 back, 50 free), and PB in other 3. She told me that she is so happy with this race, mostly because she got back to her feet and saw progress.

Lizzy had mostly fun during this meet up as she was so well integrated to the girls’ group after our racing trip in November. She also medaled in 50 breast and butterfly.

This pic made me smile as daddy was trying hit the avocados, newly found hobby as of him, finding mango and avocado trees everywhere we go. Girls joined him for a while, so funny.

I also had a fun 5k. I didn’t race it as I did my usual LR on Saturday. I really needed it after the work trip. But I was determined to have fun.

I am now the type of runner that looks for race pics and buy them (super affordable in Brazil). I also would pose for the photographer on the road hehehe… This one, I was not posing but really enjoying the moment.

this one captured well the feeling I had… fun, blissful, enjoying the crowd and the movement.

I ran to the swimming venue after my race, stayed until the end, dropped daddy and Lizzy to the BBQ organized by the swim team at our club, and went back home with Sofia. I finished packing, took a nap, and went to the airport for my last work trip to Sao Paulo.

I arrived the hotel 8:30pm and was glad to have chosen this hotel as it looks so cozy.

This is my 4th trip to Sao Paulo and the easiest and fun one as the schedule is light and I don’t need to deliver anything, this is mostly a wrap up trip on the project I am leading. I will also join a field trip to see an ongoing project (metro extension) that sounds fun! I will also finish Christmas shopping?!

Let the last fun work week starts~ 🙂

  2. That’s great about Sofia! I love that her first meet didn’t go well, but she came back fighting. It’s a gret learning experience for her.

You do look like you’re having fun in that 5k!

Your work trip does sound fun- glad there’s nothing stressful involved. Enjoy!

  3. You look so great in your race photos. Even when I try to smile for race photos, I still look rather awful! Ha. I have only bought one race photo – one from my first marathon back in 2006. I don’t look great in it, but I look very focused!

Congrats to your girls on all their medals!! And I am envious of your access to mango and avocado trees. I forgot to list mango as one of my fave fruits in Elisabeth’s recent top 5/bottom 5 fruit post!
