Tuesday topic- How do you reset your routine after the holidays?

I meant to start the year joining this fun weekly post challenge but I missed the first week. Better late than never, right?!

Few things I did to transition back to “routine”.

  1. I told myself that I will take this week easy, tackle few to-do lists, finish work mind early so I can ease back and paid off my sleep debt. So far it’s going well.
  2. I continued my new year morning routine. Wake up, read for 20 min in bed, do my morning routine in office, then journal for 10-20 min, 1-2 pages of this notebook.

I have company while doing that. She’s sooo cute. She doesn’t like to be hold but loves to be around us.

3. I resume to start my day earlier so by the time sun comes out, I get to witness the magic and go out for a run.

4. I took Monday afternoon off to come home early to meal prep. our fridge and freezer were empty which gives me anxiety. I made bulgori with rice, pasta with bolognese sauce, banana cake with coconut, chocolate cookie, and french toast. the cake and the cookie are from the cookbook that I aim to finish making this year. It’s all “healthish” baking/sweets that family enjoys. Let’s see if I manage to cook them all.

The bolognese sauce turned out great and both girls had it for dinner

Lizzy said she was in heaven

5. I also started/ended my day with my new planner stack. I feel organized and less overwhelmed.

Yes, I have a post-vacation blue, mild one, and physically more tired than last weeks, which is normal. I am actually looking forward to stay put for a few weeks without traveling. March is getting busy already with 3 trips lined up.

  1. I kind of like getting back into routine BUT I do find it stressful, like you, to come home to an empty fridge. Usually my son is in our house when we travel, and he often will pick up some groceries to soften the blow when I come home. But it’s not the same as having a fridge I stocked myself, you know?

Oh that sunrise!!! We have had some beautiful skies here lately – winter is typically too dark and cloudy to really get pretty sunrises or sunsets, but things have turned this past week!

I love your morning routine. Are the cats getting along better now, or do you just keep them separated?

  2. thanks Nicole. morning sky is something I will never take it for granted. I woke up this morning not feeling rested yet but the morning sky that shifted so quickly during sunrise made me smile.

No, the cats are separated for good, unfortunately.
