Almost perfect day

It was almost a perfect day, one of those days that I didn’t expect it to go as well as it went, only to end it with some unexpected stress.

I woke up early, after a slow morning routine, I headed out for my run. With this app, I have two workouts a week which at first I thought it would be too intense, but now I look forward to it. Most of the time I don’t get to hit the pace in all reps, and I’m fine with it. Look the color of the sky!!!

before that, I had some corn cakes and bread with cashew cream cheese. I am still in search of the perfect pre-run fuel. Honestly nothing tastes good at that time of the day but gotta have some fuel to avoid cortisol hike.

I workout called for 5 sets of 3:15 min at 7:10min/mile pace with 2 min rest in between. Except one set (an uphill) that was 7:24, all the others, I nailed it! I felt sooooooooo good and strong! I know that probably only 25% of the time we get a super good run, and that was one of those days.

the App will give me feedback, AI generated for sure, that is nice.

I was drained in sweat and it was not even hot. I kept sweating for another 30 min once I got home, still feeling super hype up.

I did stretching and 10 min of Sally’s app (I am so far liking it and doing the 5x5x5 challenge, 5 exercise a day, 5 days a week, for 5 weeks). Big long shower and my beloved oatmeal with frozen berries.

I also had a very productive day at work, especially as a new project that I am building (out of an idea) is shaping up. I got two very senior researchers to join us. When we had the virtual meeting, I couldn’t hold myself as I was meeting luminary figure in my field, and I had to start by saying: I am big fan of your work!!! I realized that in a context of limited budget and over worked environment, good ideas still attract people and resources. I am super excited!

Then I got a text, Sofia said she was feeling hot and headache. I went home after my meeting and she indeed had fever. Since she got back from São Paulo, her energy level was low and now sick. She’s in good spirit though and will rest well this weekend as next week we will be going to Campo Grande for her swim competition.

Then daddy text me that Lizzy’s dentist appointment was taking longer than planned, her cracked tooth needed to be extracted and the dentist was having hard time taking out a stubborn piece. Oh well. I am so glad I was not there as I can’t handle all her crying. They got home 8pm and immediately I went to bed after I saw Lizzy was still joyful.

It’s quite common to have a mixed bag day. Gotta enjoy the epic and endure the lows.

  1. I love cashew anything – I was planning to make a soup tomorrow night with a cashew cream. I keep raw cashews in the freezer for just that eventuality. Have you tried cashew ice cream? It’s divine.

What a nice day you had – I’m glad the girls are feeling better. A cracked tooth, ouch!

  2. Fantastic job on those intervals, Coco!! You absolutely nailed it – such a confidence boost when a run goes right! It’s a very good pace, too.
Sofia has a packed schedule – it will do her the world of good to relax a bit.
And poor Lizzy! The tooth is one of the first set, meaning a “real” tooth will grow in place of the lost one?

  3. Mostly good things…your amazing sky, great run, delicious oatmeal, good work day. I’m sorry Sophia is sick, hope she feels better soon. I hope Lizzy’s tooth is better too. It sounds like you and your husband have a good partnership, that he brought her home and then you were able to go to bed once you knew all was well.

  4. I know we’re supposed to fuel pre-run, but I would have a lot of trouble eating before doing fast intervals! Sounds like you did it right though, because you hit your paces. Nice job!

Sorry about Sofia- I hope she’s feeling better now. And ouch on that cracked tooth! Glad Lizzie is okay.

  5. Nice work on those intervals! I can see why you were dripping with sweat afterwards!

The dentist visit sounds awful! I am glad your husband could handle it. I tend to take the boys to dentist appts and OOF it is not pleasant, even just for a cleaning!
