Small wonders

I rarely buy physical copy of books these days but I pre-ordered this one because I could sense that I’ll read it more than once and want to have a hard copy. I was right. I read it cover to cover in one day, Tuesday which was a public holiday. It’s one of those books that give you peace of mind, feeling it’s the summer breeze near sunset time, makes you smile gently, feeling something rubbing your heart, tasting the icing lemonade during summer vacation.

I didn’t want it to end. I love all the sections including observations on birds, plants. I also enjoy reading her motherhood thoughts, her relationship with her dad, her college sweet heart turned into life long companion, and her creative outlet process.

Life is the sum of days, hours, small wonders and pitfalls. Each piece, each moment, could be special if we take the time and curiosity to look at it and feel it closely.

After reading it, I am starting a new note to write down my small wonders. There are so many, just to mention a few noticed on an ordinary non working day with the family at home, doing nothing special:

  • morning sunshine, pinkish sky with blue/gray background
  • the motion of body floating/running in a quiet path, feeling the wonder of starting a new day
  • sleepy face of the girls when they wake up without an alarm, without the morning rush
  • the sound of silence when I read while Lizzy was doing her kumon

our cats bring me daily wonders. Here Bubble looks at Cookie who’s at the other side of the window. I wonder what she was thinking about.

girls chatting, sharing about their silly ideas, playdate plans, swim team gossips, during meal times.

more to come!

Happy Friday.
