I’m sure fellow runners can relate. So many things only come up during a run. I like music over podcasts because ideas flow more naturally when I don’t deliberately focus on what is in my ears. This morning during 8.5 miles easy run:
- Why did I wake up with headache? Is the magnesium I took last night counterproductive?
- Oh after this run, I would have run cumulative of 40 miles in 5 days. My knee is still holding, with minor discomfort at the end of the run that improves overnight. But I’m glad for the rest day tomorrow. I can start to feel the fatigue.
- What community service would interest Sofia? The animal shelter sounds great, the refugee camp sounds more meaningful but could be tricky. She’s looking for community service and it’s quite tricky here without her speaking the language. But will try to find something.
- Should I go for 50k next year at Patagonia festival with my colleagues? Or should I aim for London? Hard decision.
- Packing list for cuiaba trip. I haven’t started and wish someone packs for me.
- Oh the sky is sooo pretty!!! Pink, gray, light blue.
- What food/snacks to pack? Should I bring cooked tofu and pumpkin as emergency food?
- This song is so timely!
Etc…
Any random ideas that came up while in the flow?
Where are the refugees from in the camp?

I have a friend in Venezuela, who is hoping to leave and move to Brazil. And I was wondering about the refugee situation in Brazil. He speaks good Portuguese so that will be an advantage. The most difficult part he said was the trip to Brazil. It’s very dangerous now in Venezuela. Thank you for what you are doing. These people need assistance. They have been through so much.

Yes, I can totally relate to those random running thoughts! 😄 I’m actually impressed that you managed to remember so many of them. Did you record voice notes during the run, or do you just have a much better memory than I do?
And regarding Patagonia vs. London: I’d probably choose London and save the Patagonia 50k for later. London feels like one of those rare opportunities that you grab when you can, whereas Patagonia will likely still be there a few years down the line.

I remember some of the ideas but not most of them.
I entered to London lottery, if I get it, I’ll go. If not, I’ll do Patagonia with friends while they are up for it as I rarely go to races with friends.

I’m also impressed you remembered so many of these! Yes, my mind is all over the place when I’m running. Every once in a while I’ll actually stop and put something in Apple notes if I have a thought I want to come back to.
