My day started at 7:30am and just got back to hotel at 22hs.
Things I learned:
- Appreciation for history and literature of real thinkers. Appreciation to ideas is universal and not subject specific. This person is a well respected economist, yet he spent first 20 min talking about literature.
- Some people are so eloquent without a script and note. He could be so structural without being boring with seemingly boring topic. impressive for a 58 man who looks like full of energy.
- How to improve quality of education is the biggest puzzle. Yet we can also see innovative solutions in some part of the question. So why these solutions don’t happen in other parts?
- The easiest way to deal with a problem is to throw money on it without solving the problem and create other problems in the long term.
- Deliberate thinking of why something is not working is rarely done. We tend to jump to solutions looking at the surface and not the root cause.
- The beautify of meeting different people with diverse background and views is that we could distill what’s consensus and what needs to be discussed more.
- This is a country with so much endowment and talent. Yet it’s in a vicious cycle that we don’t know how to get out of.
Finally. I signed up for next year’s Patagonia running fest 50km race, with a colleague! It opened up today with only 500 spaces so we jumped without too many deliberation. Let’s jump and then plan later! 🙂
Yay for signing up! Jump and plan later is exactly my thing, too!!
