I thought I’d start tapper this week, only to realize not yet. And then I remembered last cycle I also had a shorter tapper, which is fine for me. I love training, I struggle during tapper, so the shorter the better for my mental sanity.
Monday: rest. I was quite well recovered after 20.3 miles run. Magic!
Tuesday: 75 min MP, with warm up and cool down, totally 10.8 miles and nailed on the pace. It’s funny how our mind adjusted to the challenge. Last week I wondered how to keep up the pace even for 60 min, then when it was 75 min, my mind magically made the 60 min feeling easy. Then slimfit.
Wednesday: easy 7 miles averaged 10.47. I took it super easy.
Thursday: 2 set of 15 min MP after 40 min of warm up and 10 min cool down, totally 8.8 miles. 15 min MP after 75 min on Tuesday felt a walk by the park. The app coach said: your marathon rhythm is setting in. Then slimfit with Sofia!
Friday: full rest day. I now take it seriously, can’t afford to risk not to rest it even if I could be doing something. Better to be conservative at this point.
Saturday: Long run, 15 miles although originally I planned for 14 but then stopped the watch to do something and forgot to turn it on for one mile. The perfectionist of me couldn’t let clock not to record 14, so did 14 still, although it was 15. I kept it super easy, enjoying the last long run before the marathon. I’ll miss it after Nov 1, the long runs that are meant for something bigger, the mental work of keeping it up when it gets hard, the happiness of arriving last few miles and still feeling more in the tank.
Sunday: 6 miles recovery run, super easy, mostly in Z1.
Total miles: 48.
Strength training: 2
I am finally feeling ready, comfortable with the distance, confidence that I’ll finish without the pressure to PR. What a nice place to be! Now, TAPPER begins, hang on!
