Happy New Year!!!

the month long planned dinner to celebrate Chinese new year finally happened on Sunday. The official new year eve is actually Monday but to ease preparation, we celebrated it early. Hubby and I planned the menu weeks in advance and I did some preparation throughout last week and I’m happy to report that it turned out fantastic.

We also decorated the entry door, first time ever as family. Don’t know why we never did it, probably out of laziness. The small detail made us feel festival right away.

We prepared 7 cold dishes, 5 hot dishes, 1 soup, and 1 dessert. Our friends came over around 3pm, first a table full of snacks for adults and kids. Then we started dinner at 4:45pm so we have enough time to eat and digest.

1. tofu mushroom, 2. chicken, 3. marinated eggs and tofu. 4. marinated beef
1. mixed cold salad (8 ingredients), 2. tofu with aged egg, 3. dates with mochi
1. broccoli with 2 types of eggs, 2. shrimp with glass noodle, 3. spicy fish fillet with cabbage, 4. glutinous rice filled with aduki bean paste

We all ate until we could no more… probably like Thanksgiving dinner. We really enjoyed hosting our friends and the week long preparation process raised expectation gradually, which made us enjoy the final dinner so much more.

First and last year celebrating with this family but we will sure keep in touch wherever we go to.

Now, we have a fridge full of leftovers to dig in. Just finished the dessert…. feeling so happy now 😀

  1. Happy New Year! That looks like a delicious feast. I’m always so impressed with the number of dishes you prepare; and it is so fun to celebrate with friends (and enjoy good food).
