Few days in Lombok

After our earlier descent from Rinjani, we checked into the hotel that family will join me on Sunday. It was a brilliant idea to cut our hiking trip short as we all badly needed a hot shower and normal bathroom.

The next day, Sunday, we had a long breakfast by the beach, recounting our stories just the day before during summit

our legs were soooo sore that we limped while going up and down stairs, but we were proud of our “pain”.

We met again a while later for lunch, it seemed that our hunger was catching up with the strenuous hike the day before, welcoming the spread of food we ordered to share

the family arrived just before we finished, so we continued our lunch until almost 4pm. Girls went to the pool right away, me chatting with friends until it was their departure time

we took a sunset pic before they left.

On Monday, we did a waterfall tour

I did not appreciate the ups and downs to get to the two waterfalls… I looked like old grandma, even Lizzy was very worried that I looked suffering from pain

but I was happy to be reunited with the family

the second waterfall was majestic

On Tuesday, we changed hotel, from Sengigi to Kota beach area. After I arrived, I went for a 90 min massage. Unfortunately it was still very painful to be touched, especially my legs, so I asked the therapist to be very gentle.

Girls enjoyed the beach

i enjoyed the sunset

Wednesday started with breakfast by the beach

then we did the secret islands tour. The harbor was actually near our previous hotel, so it took us 90 min of drive to get there, and then 10 min on boat to the first island. The islands were not as good as I expected, the highlight of the tour was catching sea orchid and eat it fresh

we had lunch at the second island… look the face of Lizzy when she was fresh grilled fish was her lunch

Overall Lombok feels like Bali 20 years ago, very chill, not fully developed, cheap and lay back. We are moving to Gili Air for three more days, supposedly even more remote and less developed.

  1. That looks beautiful! I really love fresh coconut and am kind of jealous of the girls! I went to Bali a little over 10 years ago and it was pretty laid back as long as you were not in the main towns. However, I really wanted to go to Lombok and the Gili islands but we ran out of time! I am glad that you are recommending it, as I still have it on my list!

  2. Looks like the perfect way to relax after that hike! I know just what you mean about having super sore legs… I feel like when I do a new legs strength program I sometimes get sore and it can really linger for days! Love the waterfall picture- super cool with the different “levels”. Enjoy the rest of your beach time.

  3. This all looks amazing, especially considering how cold it has gotten here in Minnesota. We had our first snowfall which was super depressing even though it melted fast. We are doing a beach vacation in April but that seems sooo far off!!
