I’m so glad this week is ending in a high note after stressful events:
1. Husband’s visa to Europe was delayed and we need his passport back to travel to China on Friday. We were ready to retrieve the passport, giving up on Paris, so he can travel to China. I even wrote the letter to the embassy. Fortunately we got his passport back with the visa on Thursday.
2. My ankle situation objectively is not bad. I ran 3 times, Monday 3 miles, Wednesday and Thursday 6 miles each time. I didn’t experience the tendon pain, but felt I had sore ankle (new place!). I wasn’t sure if it was real or imagined and that stressed me out! I’m due to talk to my coach tomorrow to lay out some plans. This uncertainty of the ankle situation is causing me a lot of stress.
3. I crossed trained on Tuesday, 50 min swim in this beautiful pool. Yet, I found it sooo boring and wished I could be running instead.
4. I had to prepare a presentation in a short time, which was stressful. It went well and I’m glad I don’t have to work more on it during my holiday.
We are so excited to the trip to Shanghai, we all need a little break after 2 months of “hard work”. :).
What’s planned for us for our 9 days stay:
– meeting old friends and relatives
– do shopping: new running shoes is a must
– eat local food
– run in great weather, 50s F
– see my chinese doctor, will ask some enforcement to my ankles
50s weather will be AMAAAAAAZZZINNNGGGG!

Oh goodness. Anything to do with travel is so stressful to me and NOT HAVING A PASSPORT IN TIME is my nightmare!!

That is tough that you are still feeling ankle pain. But running in cooler temps will feel so good. I hope your ankle feels better! It’s so hard to train for these big races and then have something that might sidetrack us! I got bronchitis about 5 weeks before I ran a marathon in 2012. I was so worried I wouldn’t be able to run it. I did have to miss 1 of my 3 20-22 mile runs. But I was ultimately healthy enough to get back to training and ran a strong race.
So glad things worked out with your husband’s passport/visa!!

Coco, swimming has to be the most boring cross training in the entire world. I know it’s good for us, and it feels good, but it’s so, so boring. I hope your Chinese doctor can help, so you are able to run and not have to get back in the pool!
Glad the passport situation was resolved- that does sound stressful. I hope your trip to Shanghai is wonderful and that you have lots of cool weather runs there! 50s is perfect.

Ug, I am glad that things are looking up, but I hate it when stressful things like that happen right before a big trip. I am usually already feeling behind in packing and stuff, and to throw another thing in the mix is a lot of stress. I am so glad that his visa came through in time and I hope that you have a great time on your trip!
I love swimming; I grew up near a river and we swam every day in the summertime (and still do when I am home). However, pool laps would put me right to sleep if I weren’t in a giant body of water. My friend had some sort of waterproof headset she used to use when she did laps and I think if I were going to do it often, I would want something like that.
