DILT 4/27 Saturday

This was not a usual Saturday as girls didn’t have swimming practice due a school event. So we had most of the day unplanned. The only “event” was to get the dengue vaccine.

4:35: woke up. Morning quiet time (mate, leisure email, meditate, update time tracker of the day before) and headed out for a 4-6 miles run. Again, it was hot and humid but air quality was good.

6:49: this is what I saw when I came back. Lizzy just woke up and already making a face to make us laugh. This is part of her personality. Sometimes I wonder if she spends her free time looking at the mirror just to find the funniest face.

I made breakfast for the girls, soft boiled eggs, hash brown and French bread.

I went to chat with husband who was still sleeping, to iron out the “incident” of the night before. 7:40am When I came out, Sofia was already going her Kumon.

I did runner’s quick strength routine, core, mobility, and stretching, totally 20 min. Shower while sipping on AG1.

8:33: fresh grounded coffee. Manual grind for some arm work 🙂

8:40 sipping on coffee while Lizzy had her piano lesson (second class this week to make up for lost class when we traveled), and planned my day.

8:50: breakfast while Sofia did her piano theory homework.

9: tackle the kitchen sink “situation”. We don’t have nor used to use dish washer, and we have a helper so weekend and holidays is the only time we do dishes, I don’t mind and girls help out a lot.

9:30: leaving to go to doctor’s office, to get girls’ second dengue vaccine, husband’s first dose. My non-work uniform is jean short + t-shirt.

10: Sofia went first. She didn’t make a sound.

Lizzy scared

10:25 Lizzy getting a cookie post shot. How nice.

11:10: arrived at groceries store. Husband goes to get few things during the week and I usually do the big shopping on Saturday. Sofia picking up her treat for the weekend, she couldn’t decide which one to get. But I didn’t give her any advice either. She finally decided to go with the right one.

I love bringing the girls to do groceries shopping, because they love unloading and help out

11:43: got back home. This groceries trip cost 180 USD.

11:58: girls put away groceries. I started making lunch. Hainan chicken, one of girls’ favorite meal and easy to make. They prefer my version over restaurants because they love my crunchy rice, and not too seasoned chicken.

12:26pm: done.

I also made a tuna salad (canned tuna, chopped celery, mustard, Japanese mayonnaise).

12:30pm lunch was served. I had leftover soup with corn, husband didn’t have lunch

1pm: I read some newsletter and blogs, before feeling a bit sleepy.

1:30-3pm: I read and napped in bed while girls stayed in their room reading, playing, separately.

3pm: I came out from my room and ready to make crepes. Sofia had piano theory zoom class. Lizzy had no plan so I encouraged her to build the lego set she got for birthday. She wasn’t sure at first thinking it would be hard. She never built a lego set all by herself. I encouraged her and 20 min later she was on it.

3:36pm: crepes ready . Lizzy loved the crepe and continued with her task. By then she was really into it.

3:48pm: I had a tea with roasted beans. then went back to reading.

4:15pm Sofia finished her lesson and practiced the second half of her piano practice.

4:50pm: Sofia made mango ice cream with minimal help.

5:17pm: I came back to the table with my chinese bean porridge (aduki bean, barley, lotus seed, white fungus, black sesame powder), common to have during period. Lizzy still SUPER focused.

5:40pm: made girls dumplings for dinner. chatted with Sofia for a while before returning to my reading.

I had two sweet potatoes and this AMAZING chocolate as dinner

6:13pm: Sofia ready for her 1 hour TV time with her treat and milk

meanwhile Lizzy continued to build and build, neglecting dinner

I moved to bed at 7:20pm and continued my reading. Sofia FaceTime with grandma. Lizzy still with lego.

7:45pm: I cat napped for 10 min with light on. Girls came to hug me for goodnight.

8:15pm I felt asleep.

Lizzy continued with the lego until 9:30pm. That was the most FOCUSED Lizzy I’ve ever seen. I was super impressed by her focus. When she was building, she said: I think lego can help me to go to engineer school. OMG!!! 😀

Highlight of the day: Lizzy with Lego; hours reading; leisure nap.

  1. Lizzy’s face in that first photo is so cute/funny! She sounds like our 2nd – spunky and entertaining. Paul is really into Lego and he can build sets on his own now too which I love. It’s a great activity!

Sophia is looking so grown up and mature!

sounds like a great day despite not having your usual scheduled activities! I also had tuna salad!
