My impulse purchase & workout report

I have forever wanted to join a running camp but there’s none in Asia. I don’t necessarily want to join a running camp to learn how to run. I want to meet fellow runners who enjoy running for leisure but not obsessed about it (well everything is relative), explore a new place in the nature, and new experiences. So far, I haven’t found the ideal set up, until Saturday.

I got an email in my junk mail about runweekends.com, I quickly clicked it and 2 hours later (after my run) I paid the deposit for this trip, which will be in July 2025. I don’t even know what continent I’d be living, but dolomites is a place I really want to go to visit after hearing about. This guided running trail run sounds PERFECT!!!

I’m over the moon about it. I can still cancel 60 days before the trip and losing my deposit, in case things change. But I hope I can make it.

YAY!!!

Workout report

Monday: rest as we were driving back from Bandung and my legs were dead like having just completed a marathon.

Tuesday: 7.8 miles easy + strides. My quads hurt for 1/2 of the run but I was glad to let the blood flow to my legs, hoping it helps to recover from the hill runs. 20 min yoga.

Wednesday: workout. 15 min warm up, 5 sets of 1.5 miles @ 20 secs faster than desired HMP, rest between sets for 2.5 minutes of a SLOW jog, 15 min easy. I thought I didn’t have it today as my legs were so bad yesterday. But I learned to not over think it and just give it a shot. It went really well, challenged for sure, as reflected by my sustained high HR, but I felt good and enjoyed the cool down. 12.3 miles in total. 20 min runners’ strength workout.

Thursday: 9 miles easy with strides. I felt better recovered than previous week of the same workout. 30 min full body.

Friday: rest

Saturday: 7 miles, 2 miles indoor and rest outdoor a I just didn’t have it in me to do more indoor. Fortunately, air quality improved a bit. It was a okay run, not the best as period is coming soon and I’m not dealing well with heat when my basal temperature is higher than normal. 30 min full body.

Sunday: 14 miles (4 miles warm up, 6 miles at HMP, 4 cool down). I had to do 3 miles warm up on the TM as air quality was bad. Then I decided to head out for the 6 miles workout after 1 mile warm up. Those 6 miles were challenging, again I know period is arriving in < 3 days and my energy level is at the bottom, but I hit the pace I wanted, just had to pay the price of higher HR for most of the run. Got it done. Last workout LR before the race.

Total miles: 50

Strength: 3 sessions

Yoga: 1

  1. To the Dolomites! How exciting! I want to go there next year for a multi-day hike!
Unfortunately, the website runweekend.com doesn’t seem to be working and I can’t get access to your link. It would be interesting to see the route!

  2. I am such a wimp bc I looked at it and was like “weather can vary” and “you have to carry your stuff” and was like . . nope (not in general of course, but for me, specifically!) 🙂 You are much tougher than me though (which isn’t hard, to be fair haha) and I have no doubt you will love it!!

  4. OMG, can I come. The Dolomites are amazing. I’ve spent every year there skiing growing up but I have yet to go in the summer.. .and a run camp sounds freaking awesome.

Great job on your training this week, too.
