Perth Sunday to Thursday

We have been busy exploring Perth, leaving early and coming back 5-6pm, only enough energy to make dinner and go to sleep, thus I didn’t manage to post every day. Let’s see what we’ve done since the race

Sunday afternoon: to support recovery, we went to explore the Botanic Garden of King’s park. We saw baobab tree that Lizzy kept asking me what it is from her kumon reading homework. I thought it was fictional until now 🙂

the view from the park is gorgeous. We encountered many new to us plants

then we walked back to Elizabeth Quay for ice cream and saw a black swan

Monday: daddy and I went to the airport to pick up our rental car in the morning, then moved to another airbnb as our friend returned to Melbourne. In the afternoon we went to Caversham Wildlife Park. We absolutely loved it, so many cute animals!!! I wish we could hold wombat though, he looks super chill for the pic

the kangaroo feeding area is super fun. Girls spent a while feeding different ones and this one was the cutest

another funny bird

and so many koalas and they were not sleeping.

Tuesday: pinnacles. It took us 2 hrs to get there and it looks like another planet. I was eager to learn their origin, but it seems that scientists can’t agree about where they come from

then girls spent 1.5 hrs playing at the sand dunes. The up and down really tired them and both fell asleep on the ride back

Wednesday: Rottnest Island. We rented bicycle except grandma took the hop on hop off bus which was a wise decision. I didn’t realize how hilly the ride would be, quite a workout. Sofia and I went upfront while Lizzy and daddy often had to push up the bike. The scenery is beautiful, so quiet, just a lot of wind.

we stopped few times for some rest and enjoy the view

and stopped at the lighthouse for lunch with this mobile cafe, the much needed rest and refuel station

we didn’t see quokka for hours and then suddenly we saw them everywhere. We spent our time to take selfies with them. Sooooooo cute!!!!

Thursday: I needed few solid hours of work; daddy took the family to King’s park again to explore playgrounds and cafes. I managed to finish what I planned and won’t need to work again until I return to office. YAY!

2 more full days and we head back home. So far, we all love this beautiful city, full of nature to explore, city convenience, and very family friendly. Every day we were exhausted by the time we hit bed, very satisfied with what we’ve seen and done for the day. Although some part of my mind is with work and had few work-related calls, I am super relaxed and feel rested and enjoying this holiday.

  1. Looks like a fantastic trip so far, you have packed a lot in! Glad you’re enjoying Perth – I couldn’t wait to leave in my 20s but after living overseas I really appreciate the weather and ease of living here, it’s a great place to raise kids.

  2. What a fun visit for you! It’s bringing back memories of the time I studied abroad in Australia. The koalas are especially very very very cute. And kangaroos are extra cute, too. They would hop across campus at the university I attended in Australia – although we were told to steer clear of them as they are extremely violent apparently! But the ones in the zoo have been domesticated and are nice and friendly of course.

  3. This looks amazing! I’ve never been to Australia. This was definitely the “cute animal” post- that little kangaroo is adorable (but I’m reading Lisa’s comment above, kangaroos are dangerous? They look so friendly!) and those quokkas… I’ve never heard of them before. So, so cute- they look like they’re smiling. I love it.

  4. Beautiful place! You had a very interesting journey. I always treat such trips as new adventures, because each time I get to know a new culture, people, place and many other things. Each such trip also teaches me something new.
