Midweek update: life is good!

Monday evening: we celebrated daddy’s birthday with newly bought gifts (golf shirt, short and cap) which he liked, and our favorite cake (peach earl gray cake). I got the gifts that afternoon as I couldn’t wait any longer. This is our 9th birthday celebration together so I really ran out of ideas. So the criteria I used to get the gifts was just get something that he wouldn’t get for himself. It doesn’t need to be something he needs, it’s more of a gesture 😉 With that in mind, I got the gifts within 1 hr during lunch break.

we are doing again the advent calendar this year because girls LOVE it! It’s a treasure hunt as I would hide the gifts somewhere and gives them a hint. I rotate between small gifts and fun snacks.

This week has been busy at work, a lot of talking presenting my two years of work, and preparing for the big launch next Monday.

I also booked my ticket to Shanghai next week, and January trip to the US and Brazil. The most exciting work trip is coming up. Where? The location of “The State of Wonder”! How cool is that!

Our moving date is still not finalized. I am exploring options and still hoping to move together with the family. Although my colleague friends say it would be good experience living alone for 1-2 months, I don’t think that’s ideal for me. I love hanging out with the family. Finger crossed!

2025 is so close and I am contemplating my word for the year, so far PIVOT is in my mind. What’s yours?

  1. I had to look up the location of the State of Wonder. Somewhere in the Amazon? Sounds exciting indeed!
I hope you can move as a family. Being separated for many weeks from the family would be hard!

  2. Peach earl grey cake???? Sounds amazing! Happy Birthday to your husband, and nice job with the gifts, and not overthinking things.

You have lots of excitement coming up! And- PIVOT is a great word. I want to start thinking about a word of the year, but I’ve been so busy and scattered with Christmas preparations that I haven’t been able to. Thinks will calm down soon!

  3. One, I love birthdays and love the sound of that cake. Yummy. And wow, that’s a lot of travelling. That literally is PIVOT in a single word, along with a move? And yes, I would stay with the family too if it were me.

  4. Pivot is a perfect word for you with the big changes ahead. I am thinking my word might breathe. I have had quite a bit of a stress in my life and I don’t see it changing (mostly related to how demanding work is) and reminding myself to take deep breaths will be helpful I think.

  5. Ooo peach earl grey cake sounds good. We used to have a local tea house that made the best earl grey cookies.

My word for 2025 is Sparkle. I think Pivot makes sense for you. Every time I hear it I think of the Friends sketch and smile.
