It’s my first time doing a fun/goal list for the year. I try to make them actionable; some are one offs. Others are regular/recurrent task. My goal is to achieve 80% of them 80% of the time. 🙂

  1. Create a reading corner in our new house so I can read with the girls together.
  2. Cook through a recipe book.
  3. Organize my digital files from Indonesia and create a system to better file new files in Brazil.
  4. Do Caroline’s Iron series twice.
  5. Write small letters/notes to the girls. At least one a month.
  6. Keep a TBR list.
  7. Make baking goodies as gifts to friends/neighbors.
  8. Hike Machu Picchu with a friend.
  9. Take bath with candles, at least once a week.
  10. Read a fiction book by Brazilian author.
  11. Read a non fiction book about Brazil’s history.
  12. Play board games as a family, twice a month.
  13. Take walk with the girls, at least once a month.
  14. Host more often. Once a month if not more often. It doesn’t need to be big feast, an afternoon tea with one person would count.
  15. Audit goal list once a month.
  16. Read at least 10 min in the morning.
  17. Go to at least one concert with the girls.
  18. Join a book club at least once.
  19. Read a book in spanish.
  20. Read a book in chinese.
  21. Set a new 5k PR.
  22. Set a new Marathon PR.
  23. Write a happy list post once a month.
  24. Take monthly pics of the girls.
  25. Try a new sport/activity.

  1. This is a great list! I am so envious of your ability to read books and other languages!!! Do you know which marathon you’ll be running in 2025 yet? I want to say you’re considering the New York City marathon?

      1. I know the CIM race in Sacramento in early December is one that many target for a PR because it’s flat/downhill! NYC would be an incredible race experience though so I hope you get into that one!

  2. Oh, a 5K and marathon PR—how exciting, Coco! That’s an ambitious and awesome challenge!

Do you already have specific races in mind, or will you choose them as the year unfolds? I’m curious about your training approach—will you focus on speed first for the 5K and then shift towards endurance for the marathon, or are you planning to train for both simultaneously?

Either way, your consistency with Caroline’s Iron Series will definitely be a great strength booster for your running! 😊

    1. I don’t have a date yet, will plan for it. I like to have the speed work as part of the marathon build up. What about you? How do you plan your yearly training and racing schedule?

      1. Combining speed into marathon training sounds like a good idea!
I usually just pick a race and then train for it. For this year, I picked two races: Boston in April and then Comrades in June. I will then take a break from running and switch to more mountain biking. At least that’s the plan! 😅

  3. Coco, how many languages do you speak/ read? I find it fascinating when people are so fluent in more than one language!

I love the idea of writing notes to your daughters. What a special thing for them.

Some of my favourite times with the boys was playing silly board games with them. That’s a great goal to have!

  5. I like how your list is a combination of big things and little things. I have similar goals of doing non screen activities with my kids. We frequently default to watching a movie together on the weekend, which is cozy, but we also like to play board games together, and I find often that is more energizing and interactive than just watching a movie.

One of my favorite websites to get book recs (Five Books – each post is features someone recommending five books in certain categories or topics) had a post this week on books on Brazilian History this week, and I thought of that when I read your goals.
