Surviving the work week

It has not been an easy week (has not finished yet!) as this sickness has hit me hard this time around. I’m on my last day of antibiotics (5 days 3x/day) and still coughing just as much. No fever and no more throat pain but feeling not myself, coughing often, especially at night, preventing a good night of sleep. On top of that, I had meetings every night, the worst day was 8-9pm, and then 12:30-2am. Other days I had in 2-3 meetings finishing 9 or 10pm. Yet, I am adapting to this new routine and working schedule. I wake up later (6am vs. 4am), work in the morning, take afternoon light (napping, reading, or picking up Lizzy from school), then work meetings 7-10pm (surprisingly not falling asleep but quite alert). It may be the lack of good sleep that prevents me recover fast, but I am overall feeling better, especially after I got back to the light exercise. 2 more week of this “new normal” and I’m off to Brasilia.

I didn’t exercise Sunday to Tuesday and was feeling really down mentally so on Wednesday I went to the gym, did TM and 45 min yoga. On Thursday and Friday, I did 3-4 miles TM jogging and Iron series. Magically, I didn’t cough while I was exercising, and didn’t feel worst either. Mentally I felt more normal for the rest of the day.

Happy news: BLACKPINK tour schedule is out! We may go either Chicago or Toronto.

Our shipment survey went well and everything should fit in the 20ft container. I am glad that I don’t need to declutter more or sell more.

I have been going to the groceries store everyday, alone or with husband, to get things for dinner. We found this card and bought it. I hope I get to send this card to him maybe in 30 years 🙂 We will frame it to be reminded how lucky we are to have each other.

This weekend plan:

  • Saturday: Lizzy Lego Lead competition at school. Sofia and I will go to do some shopping (her new school requires wearing black or red shirt and she has none)
  • Sunday: an art event for kids at my office.
  • Board game with the kids.
  • More napping and finish this book.

  1. Haha, I love that anniversary card! 🤩
I’m sorry you fell so sick, but it sounds like you’re on the mend! It’s amazing how physical activity makes us feel better, even when we don’t feel well.
    Have a great weekend!

  2. That’s such a cute card and I think it’s so special you leaned into the urge to purchase it and did. What a sweet gesture.

It feels like everyone around the whole world is sick these days. Seriously! Everyone I know is either sick or knows someone who is sick. Ugh. Glad you’re on the mend and I’m sure getting back into an exercise routine has been good both physically and mentally.

In in an in-between limbo of having your regular routines changed dramatically, knowing you have a BIG change coming, but not being able to fully settle into life where you are OR life where you’re going. I’m so impressed with your attitude throughout this very stressful transition!

  3. The fact that you’re still coughing makes me wonder if you might need a second round of antibiotics. I guess pay attention and see if you continue to improve once you’re finished, or if you relapse.

I think not exercising when you’re sick is smart, because it gives your body a chance to rest, but wow, I know I feel so much better when I exercise, so I’m glad you were feeling better enough to go to the gym.

I’m looking forward to your move, it’s going to be such an amazing experience.

  4. I’m glad you were able to run without coughing. So many times when I get an upper respiratory virus, it made it so difficult to run because I just cough and cough and cough. I’m sure this erratic sleep schedule is not helping but that’s the challenge of living in a different time zone from Brazil. I hope you’re feeling better by the time you leave for Brazil in two weeks!
