Productive 3 days

The last 3 days were busy and left me exhausted. I slept 10 hrs Sunday night and feeling much better today, ready to tackle another busy week, although hopefully less than last week as I was busy both front (work and move related tasks).

I am enjoying so much running in Parque du Ciudad, central park here. I haven’t taken a rest day since last Tuesday because it’s just such a nice way to start the day with crisp air and fellow runners starting their day too. Maybe that’s also why Sunday’s long run (13 miles) left me exhausted more than usual, especially because 1/2 of the run was under the sun (the brightest so far this week).

Move related tasks accomplished: I order a sofa for TV room (ready to deliver before our arrival), a living room sofa and two armchairs (deliver mid May as it is custom made). I spent quite few hours on Saturday on choosing the style, material, negotiate the price, without buying any as we couldn’t agree on the price and I was tired. Then on Sunday, I went to another store, found the ones that I liked even more, and closed the deal.

while waiting, I enjoyed some brazilian snacks.

Sunday I went to carrefour to buy a laundry washer, browsed through groceries and found great and cheap pumpkin. The bad news is that other vegetable selection was poor, no broccoli to be found (sad!).

Sunday I treated myself with a deep tissue massage as I was feeling exhausted. The quality of massage spa is way less fancy than Asia, but the massage itself was quite nice.

I later went back to the store to order the washer because my foreign credit card didin’t work. My original chill Sunday plan didn’t go through as I finished all by 6pm. I watched some netflix and fell asleep before 8pm.

I am going to take a rest day, enjoy this sunset, maybe read some before going to work.

I must say last night I felt homesick. Once my mind was not busy spinning to-do list, I miss my family so much and I have another 8 days to go. Once again, I am glad this is the last long distance away from the family trip. I really can’t be away from them for so long. I facetime with Sofia 1-2 times a day, but Lizzy is not good with face time and I miss our “apa” (hugging time).

  1. Very productive, Coco! I love the fact that you have a place to run in, I know how important it is to you. But yes, missing your family is natural. You will see them very soon!

A few questions: what language do you use? Do you speak Portuguese? Do you use English?

Also, how do you get around? Drive? Uber? Public transport?

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Daria, I speak a mix of Spanish and English and manage. I am learning Portuguese so this inmersión helps. I use uber here which is super easy. Will get a car when the family arrives.

  2. Oh, I love that you are enjoying running in your new home!! It’s so nice to run in a place where there are other running enthusiasts and where you catch the cool air and the sunrise. I imagine it to be a bit like Cape Town.
I have so many more questions to ask about the running part – I’ll better wait a bit until you’ve settled in! 😅

  3. I’m glad there is such a great area for running in your new city! It is hard to be away from the kids so I am glad your time apart is fairly limited. My oldest handles me being away very well; Will does not handle it as well as he’s way more sensitive and a more clingy child. 😦

  4. Oof, you have so much going on…. adjusting to a new workplace, furnishing a new home, being away from your family… I love that you do have a great area to run and get out of your head for a little while! I am sure the climate feels very different there.
