Tuesday thoughts

  1. I had planned to re start reading non fiction for 10 min before starting my work day. Then a friend called and I decided to spend 30 min chatting with him instead. Good call!
  2. Two meetings in and it was already lunch time. I went with two colleagues to the same buffet place. I like how quick it is everything. We were done eating in 30 min from door to door.
  3. I had to cancel my Portuguese lesson again because I had to leave early. I feel sorry for my teacher that keeps getting cancelation from. I really want to take it seriously but there are so may priorities before that.
  4. Girls did their trial out at a local swimming team recommended by their school. I was glad to hear from the coach that they made it to their team. Very proud of them. I am checking another option before deciding which one to join. The funniest part is to watch how Sofia understood the coach’s instruction in Portuguese and Lizzy followed along. Spanish really goes far in Brazil.

5. We learned the hard way that we can’t throw any tissue paper in toilets in Brasilia. I wish we knew it before we clogged 2 toilets out of 5. 😂

6. I never sleep well the first day of the week as my mind spins until I hit the pillow and somehow sleep lightly because of that. I don’t stress about it anymore, it’s just one day of the week that happens.

7. I’m so grateful for the manager of the house that keeps coming back to do more fixing. Oven, microwave, sink, toilet, bathtub, door. All have issues and she’s been super responsive to come with the technician to fix them.

8. I am back with Drew, my running coach! Super excited to have some structure for my running again.

  1. What great news about the swim team. Their athletics are such a great way to make friends and feel immediately more at home in a new country.

That’s great news about the coaching. I know you really enjoyed it before, so gold stars for making a plan to start that back up again now that you’re settling in to life in Brazil.

  2. Yikes- clogged toilets are horrible. Live and learn! Congrats to the girls- and I’ll be excited to hear how your training goes (any races on your calendar?)

  3. That is great that the girls can understand enough Portuguese thanks to knowing Spanish. Phil struggled to understand Portuguese when he traveled to Portugal while studying abroad in Spain!

I bet your Portuguese teacher understands when you have to cancel!
