Our last day in Buenos Aires was wonderful. We went out for breakfast as my old favorite breakfast place (Cafe Martinez), Sofia tried medialuna with ham and cheese; we visited the playground one more time despite being too cold for me to stay still; we visited San Telmo feria. We all agreed that “un pedacito de mi quada en Argentina (a small piece of me stays in Argentina)” after the trip. And our love for Mafalda is a newly found love and obsession.

We found choripan for the family to try and husband agreed it’s a good one. And husband found a small china porcelain piece that he’s super happy about! I didn’t know that Buenos Aires has the largest antique market in Latin America, and we found THE dealer of chinese porcelain. Now, even husband is eager to come back.

Our flight departed 3:40am and arrived Brasilia 6:30am. Few hours later, the movers arrived with our Jakarta shipment. TOOOOO many boxes to be unpacked by sleep deprived family. But we are glad things are here, to finally live as this is our home.

then a “small” accident happened. Husband went out to get some fruit, and the driver in front of him went backward when he should have go forward, and bumped our car. I was taking a nap when it happened, so was awaken by the shock of an accident. Fortunately it was minor, after a police station visit, some calls to find out how car accidents should be resolved in Brasilia, the other driver has agreed to fix it. Husband was furious and I assured him that this is really “nothing”, so let’s not fuss about it.

I spent the next day at home unpacking with the help with the girls, which were super helpful! Today I’m going back to office after 2 weeks break, to work for a week before our LA trip. I can expect me to be in summer vibe for a while! 🙂
What a bittersweet last day! I love that a little piece of Argentina will always stay with you all.
Ouch, that accident sounds like such a hassle! Glad it wasn’t worse.
How did unpacking all your Jakarta stuff go? Looking back, is there anything you wish you hadn’t packed, or has it all been worth bringing to Brasilia?
Wishing you a smooth and easy transition back to work!

The unpacking is just too much at once. I am glad what we packed, yet, we still throwed away many things like old clothes/shoes/bags and toys. I wouldn’t have done it differently as leaving is also rushed and no time to sort things out until you see them.

Sounds like such a bittersweet ending to an amazing trip, and now straight into unpacking chaos and little mishaps! Love that you’re keeping a piece of Buenos Aires (and Mafalda!) with you. Hope your first week back at work goes easy and the summer vibes carry you through!

Accidents are always such a hassle, but thankfully no one was hurt and it looks like the car was still very driveable which is a big help! It’s crazy how much tiny little fender benders can cost in terms of repair. Glad the other person took responsibility.
There were little “statues” of Mafalda in Barcelona, too!

AIEEEE SO MANY BOXES. I’d just want to lie down and curl up into a ball after all that travel. I’m sure it will be less overwhelming after you’ve had some sleep.
At least it looks like minor damage to the car, but whoa, no one expects to be backed into that way!

I am glad the damage to the car was minor. What a hassle to deal with!
Good luck unpacking. I always try to get everything unboxed asap because I hate living with boxes everywhere but it’s such an exhausting project!!

Oh, next trip is to LA and summertime! I look forward to reading about that trip. What a wonderful time you had in B.A., so glad that you went and that your family loved it so much. Was your mom full of nostalgia like you were?

Yes she was and she enjoyed this trip a lot, probably her last one for a long time if she ever visits it again.

Oh, that’s not a good way to return home, with a car accident. Well, no one was hurt and the other driver is payig for the damages, so it ended well.
I’m so glad your trip was successful! Next up… LA. I can’t wait to hear all about it.
