August: goals and mindset

The last few months (April to July) have been a season of change, to adapt, to settle into our new home. A lot happened work wise (uncertainty about job security), “accident” at home (gas explosion), work trips, family trips, running hiatus due to injury, and some personal issues. We went through them as a family, finding the silver bullet in every “crisis” as opportunities to experience something different. In retrospective, all shifts are good because most of the time the shifts take us to a new mental state where we value even more the core needs.

Now that we are settled and in love with our new home and routine, and member (Bubble), I see the future as the color of gratitude that Nicole described: the color of sunrise, pink, purple, blue, with a bit of gray hidden.

August goals a la Sarah:

Personal

  • Embrace the change
  • Moments of pause
  • Try art

Family

  • Back to school routine
  • Try new things (indoor climbing, canoe havaiana)
  • Device free at dinner (this applies mostly to husband)

daily habits:

  • meditation
  • Portuguese (30 min studying)
  • 5 years journal
  • walk with the girls after dinner
  • reading

Books to read/finish

  • Rule of civility
  • Awareness
  • Delicate edible birds

Mantra for the month: EMBRACE THE SHIFT

Let me end this with this quote from We can do hard things

  1. I like that reflection on control v love!

I’m looking forward to the start of school in September. It is going to really simplify our schedule since we will have one drop off instead of 2!

  2. I love how you’re approaching August with intention and curiosity – indoor climbing and canoe havaiana sound like such fun new adventures!
I had to smile about the “device-free dinner (mostly husband)” bit. 😄
Here’s to a month of gentle shifts and vivid sunrises!

  3. those are some great goals! For me September will be all about settling into a working routine, after having summer off, enjoying fall, and cleaning up after construction lol
