It’s May 2, am I doing the daily blogging initiated by Jenny?. Not sure. It’s non work days so I can find time and energy to write, not sure once back to work. But I like the idea and challenge of it. It’s the last month of normal work schedule before summer behinds
So what did we do today?
I had planned 12 miles but ended up doing 15 because 2.5 miles were downhill and didn’t feel like I was putting any effort . My HR was below 120 and the scenery was gorgeous by the lake. It took a year to find/try it and now I want to run here more often. Look at this: capybara enjoying the morning lake view

Husband picked me up so I didn’t have to climb the 2.5 miles back. But I’m determined to do it next weekend.
My HR average 130 so it’s really an easy and so yummy long run. I told this to Sofia the night before, how looking forward I was to my 2 hrs easy run. She couldn’t understand the concept of enjoying a long run. oh one day…
Before going home we stopped by farmers market to stock up pumpkin, I can only find my favorite kind there so I had to go to get a big one.
Once home, I had a long shower and breakfast while the girls did their homework. I also did 20 min stretching for good measure although nothing felt particularly sore.
Then I prepared ingredients for sushi making lunch for the girls and their friends. Sofia’s classmate came over and brought her sister who played with Lizzy.

After lunch, girls played at the pool while I watched running point season 1, all 10 episodes!!! It’s so good! I can’t wait to dig into season 2, probably next weekend.
After I finished watching the last episodes at 6:30 I wonder where did my afternoon go? Was it wasteful? Compared to what? What makes reading a book better use of time than watching a show? I wonder! Well… I had fun, laughed out quite a few times, and felt warm hearted. So I guess that was a good use of time. Yet, the wondering of whether I could have done something more productive bothered me. Why am I still being hunted by being productive?
Girls are now watching their show. I’ll go to read some before falling asleep. Not sure tomorrows plan yet, probably some easy run to with a good playlist, then more open space to “do whatever”, and go to a birthday party.
How’s your Saturday? Do you still feel the need to be productive even on free time?
I think we are conditioned to feel the need to be productive all the time – but we need balance! It’s good for our souls and also for our productivity to be non-productive. Rest fills our tank, and sometimes it’s good to just hang out and watch shows!
That lake is beautiful!

We’re taught that watching TV or a movie is mindless and reading a book is enriching, but honestly it depends on the show/movie/book, right? And sometimes what we need is mindless entertainment, and sometimes we need something thoughtful.
The lake is beautiful. I like that the capybara is enjoying the view. I wonder, do animals find those quiet moments of joy in beautiful surroundings? Thinking about the pets we have had, I think they do.
My Saturday was very busy, running to the Farmer’s Market, yoga, weights, then getting the house ready, and then a birthday party for my husband. Everything was great, we had a nice time. Today is his actual birthday, and we walked to a nearby restaurant for breakfast, and are having a lazy day. Later we will go to a neighboring town to walk around a bit, maybe go to a bookstore, and then dinner.
